Topfield TF5000PVR model firmware upgrade

Post by klorinczi »

I have a Topfield TF5000PVR model (shown on the front of device), which shows C4.46 at start.
It has a firmware with release date 2006.12.06.

After opening the case, I see that a label with TF5200PVRc on it is applied onto the system board.

So likely it is a TF5200PVRc twin cable tuner version, with system id 10446.

Can I flash the recommended TF5800PVR firmware on it?

May I harm anything?
Can I flash back the original firmware "TF5200PVRc_German_10446-20061206.tfd"?
It is available from here:

No chance I'm afraid, the TF5800 is a dvb-t terrestrial box.

I thought only TF5000PVRt or TF5800PVRt is the terrestrial version.

Ok - the TF5000PVRt supports dvb-t, but you described it as a TF5200PVRc twin cable box.

Oddly, the OP actually described it as a hybrid, note :-

"I have a Topfield TF5000PVR model (shown on the front of device)"

"After opening the case, I see that a label with TF5200PVRc ...."

The question is -- is the board mis-labelled (and IS a TF5000), has someone messed about with the case/logo/front panel due to damage etc.

Is there an obvious difference between a TF5000 board and a TF5200 board that could be used to work out what the board really is (cases and labels aside?)

Can the OP post a picture of the actual board?
