I know it's doing it because I run a tool called Process Monitor which shows me what all my programs are up to, I can also tell what drives are being read by the sound they all make! :D

That might make sense for portions of the C: drive, especially in C:Windows, but not for all my other drives.

It scans all the disks for DLLS - toppy applications may be installed off the C drive.

Sounds as though TM is working as designed.

Uploaded version 6.1 of TopManager

The only change in this version is modification to the code that handles the Tools| Update Forum Profile option.

Basically, this code stopped working because the site moved to https: web addresses (at the same time that Nigel relocated the site to a different machine).

The original code used to include a MyInfo link to EMJB's now defunct website (as extracted from the MyInfo Log signature); the new code replaces this with "EMJB's MyInfo tap" (plain text).

Just wanted to say thanks again for your program. The addition of a new channel (BBC Scotland) and a bit of a shuffle with BBC meant I needed to retune. Used TM (latest version) to retune and modify my Favourites list. Took 10 mins on the PC, didn't need to go near the Toppy and was absolutely painless and trouble free. 8)

Geoff,
A quick thank you for getting the latest MyStuff back on my old 5800 after a Factory Reset / Format Drive. It's the first time since I bought it in 2006 that I've had to wipe the drive, it's a great machine!!

FYI: I can recover recordings on a corrupted toppy disk (A bit late for you now but it might help others who might read this post)

Cheers

Windows Defender reports virus in 6.1 download

Post by m003 »

[quote="Geoff Bacon"]Uploaded version 6.1 of TopManager/quote]

Hi Geoff, just wanted to let you know that Windows 10 Defender reports Trojan:Win32/Zpevdo.B in attempting to download TopManager 6.1 from the website.

Not a major problem , I've downloaded 6.01 without problem & will update Forum profile manually.

Martin

PS Sig may be out of date

Hi Martin

Defender is just falsely reporting a problem - it has done this before. Personally, I think one of their strategies is to report programs that are not frequently downloaded.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can do about it.

I suggest you download the 6.1 version (you may have to select "advanced" on the warning screen)

You don't need to update the signature manually; Just display the MyInfo Log in TM and then select Tools| Update Forum Profile.
TM should then remind you if your signature needs updating in the future.

TopManager 6.2

I have modified TopManager so that it can easily handle the different Freeview.dat and Freeview(Scotland).dat files.

The Tools| Install Files option now shows a Tick against the Freeview variant that TM is using. This is the version of Freeview.dat that TM will load should one of the "Install File" options wants to download this file e.g. ChannelOrganiser)

I have also removed the initial delay when TM starts. Basically, TM was accessing my website to see if any updates were available. These checks are now performed in background threads so they don't impact the user interface.
Note: I have removed the "Help| Check For Updates" option because TM now always checks each time the program starts (this option is still documented in the Help file!)

Geoff FYI
I've just done a retune using 6.2, worked flawlessly, initially came up showing a check against freeview.dat (which is correct as its the last one I used) and gave me the option to use freeview(Scotland).dat which I did with no problems 8)
Thanks again for your hard work on this, much appreciated.

We've just got back from holiday, so I did a rescan using TopManager as I read in the rescan thread that some MUXes had changed. True Movies, True Entertainment and one other channel scanned into the 700s for some reason. TM said that they were "illegal" (?or "invalid") channels and didn't let me select them for retention so they've been deleted along with all the other unwanted stuff. I don't really want to do a rescan and then manually delete everything except those channels. Am I missing something?
