When I play back recordings the description box only shows part of the description. Is this a fault with InfoViewer, DE or my load order? When watching live programs it's fine, and shows the full desctription.

Can anyone offer any help?

BTW, since I've switched to V1.5 and used a modified skin and channel icons, I think it looks fantastic. :D

I think it's a problem with the Toppy API.

I seem to remember that TAPs only have access to the short description through the standard API?

Nimbus, can you email me v1.5? Thanks.

I can only download 1.6 and am having problems with it.

It's the fault of the TAP API, which only provides a limited part of the programme ("short") description (there is also an "extended" description which isn't actually used by Freeview). There are solutions to this (SimonC's Description Extender TAP, and the DescExt patch) but they (necessarily) require the TAP to know about the solution and support it.

I already use Description Extender which allows me to see the full description for live programs in InfoViewer. It's only recorded programs where it does not. So I assume InfoViewer "knows" about it, but for some reason it's not working for recorded programs.

Thanks

Ah, right. It's the same deal here, although slightly worse because I don't think there's an API call to get the extended description from a recording.

TAP API provides only the short description but the long one is displayed for example in the file list. It has been on my TODO -list for a long time to read the description from the file itself, but I have just been too lazy :D

If you haven't yet noticed, there is a new version available at the homepage and in tapworld.

This version is not so compatible with remote extender, as the previous one was, sorry for that, but now the event handling is not such a big mess :)

To get this working with the Remote Extender, you most likely have to define all needed keys manually to the .ini file. I can't really help with that because I'm not able to test it.

A nice TAP. Couple of feature requests:

- Can you use the same font package that EPGnavigator does? It looks rather lush.
- Can you make the colour of a programme title which is starting in the next 10 minutes different? Whilst flicking through the channels, it would be good to easily spot if something is going to start soon.

Keep up the good work!

In case anyone's missed it, I notice the v1.7 is now available which add support for Font Manager.

I have noticed some problems with this version though.

1) The exit key no longed exits Info Viewer from the screen. I have to wait for it to time out, or press "i" again to cycle through the info box > description screen > off

2) When using the volume + / - it no longer shows the volume on the screen, though the volume does change. It does display when using the left and right buttons but we realy use these for volume control.

I used my v1.5 ini file and copied over the new entries for this version (relating to Quick Change).

While the support of fonts is a plus, I'm going to revert back to v1.5 until the reaosns for these issues can be resolved.

1.5 doesn't work with exit for me. I wonder what I've got setup wrong. Maybe a conflict with the Remote Extender TAP. :?

Have you concidered using the RemoteExtender Patch instead? This is what I use and the Exit key works fine on v1.5. Below is my ini file that I use with v1.5 if it's any help..

I would use the patch but I'm not sure all my TAPs support it.

I guess I should give it a go as SimpleCharEditor doesn't seem to like the TAP either.

I've installed 1.7 and although the infoviewer box appears when changing channels, pressing the "i" button does absolutely nothing.

I've installed the font manager too and that works, but I cannot coax anything out of the "i" button.

Any ideas?

I've managed to get 1.7 fully working with the Remote Extender patch. I guess it must be something funky with your config file like I had with 1.5. I'd post mine but I don't have access to my Toppy at the moment.
