Sorry to hear of your problem. There must be something odd about your configuration, as most people seem to be OK. Suggest you post a "MyInfo" log here so we can look for any peculiarities in that.

Thanks EMJB.

I ran MyInfo and though it didn?t show any duplicate channels, it was showing every mux as Tx:?? (even though I had Firmware.dat in place), so something was wrong with my configuration rather than with CO.

In case anyone has the same issue, this is how I resolved it:
? Rebooted with no taps
? Carried out a factory reset including service scan
? Rebooted with no taps
? Ran FastScanGUI and ran a scan against my local transmitter
? Checked expected programme channels were available - Ch 45 was missing for some reason so re-ran FastScanGUI which picked up the missing mux and related programme channels
? Ran MyInfo which detected and removed a handful of duplicate programme channels
? Ran ChannelOrganiser successfully :D

Ch 45 was missing for some reason
There have been issues with the DSO at Hannington, and there are duplicate services broadcast during the 2 week changeover. Hope all sorted when you go through this procedure again in 10 days time!

Can't see anything there that I would expect to have any effect on the symptoms you originally posted. However it is now fixed, so who cares? :D

Midhurst DSO 1

Post by minsted »

I have a a 5810 running up to date MyStuff and following DSO1 on the Midhurst Transmitter yesterday, initially rescanned using Channel Organisier set for Current Transmitter and using previous list.

On reviewing the list, there was no BBC channels - so I recanned on the native menu (after a factory reset) and got all channels including BBC 1 - 4.

Reran CO and again lost all the BBC channels - rescanned native and then ran CO with All Transmitters set and now got the Channels - although also got duplicates of each BBC radio channels -- deleted the duplicates and exited. MyInfo showed up a couple of further duplicates which it deleted. The machine then froze and wouldn't exit My Info so unplugged and rebooted.

Now seems OK but is there any reason CO doesn't se the BBC channels when set on Current Transmitter - should be available from Midhurst ? Should I change any settings ?

- run two 5810s and exactly the same thing happened on both machines.

I had been having aerial issues (see post on the main board) and still waiting for some connectors from eBay to sort this out on one machine but the other machine has its own aerial with no signal problems.

Thanks

All sorts of things are changing during DSO, and scanning using "current transmitter" won't pick up the changes.

If you use FastScanGUI, you'll see different presets for different dates.

When 'Current Transmitter' is selected, CO uses the channels that were scanned previously. At stage 1 of DSO, the BBC mux has changed frequency so would not be found by this method. At stage 2, all the rest of the muxes change frequency.

Use Aerial Group C/D on CO on the next rescan; that should find all the channels.

Incidentally, Midhurst has another retune in October 2012.

Have just updated the Freeview.dat file to reflect the latest channel line-up, and the presence of EPG data for LCN 80. Download from here and install in /ProgramFiles/Settings/.

I have started a major update to Channel Organiser, and am currently planning to incorporate the following changes:

* Ability to scan a single transmitter, using the database used by TopManager. However you will be able to edit this yourself if we fail to maintain it, if you are overseas, or if you wish to do something non-standard like get the PSB muxes from a satellite station and the commercial muxes from the main station.

* Less emphasis on duplicate channels, and more on reducing the the number of channels.

* Automatic selection for deletion of duplicate, Web TV, (& Pay TV unless you have a CAM fitted) channels.

* Optional selection for deletion of groups of channels according to categories such as shopping, porn, news.

* Always limiting EPG2MEI, eit2mei, and rt2mei data collection to favourites channels.

* Better signal quality indications.

* Warning when an empty mux is found during a scan.

I was tempted to remove support for eit2mei, native favourites, and re-generation of timers after a scan, but will probably leave these in.

Please let me know if you can see any objections to the above, or want anything else added.

Please leave in the re-generation of timers after a scan. I find that a very useful feature. (Just in case you have second thoughts and decide to remove it!)

@Wallace

MyStuff reinstates the timers after a scan (timers only need to be restored if MS is not running).
