Hi,
Signal monitor shows that the signal levels are not optimum, however the recorded results & TV viewing only very rarely show the artefacts associated with poor signal.

The other two toppies seem to work flawlessly under the same conditions.

@andyfras: I think I will try swapping the hard disks over and hope the problem follows the HDD as that would be nice & easy to fix.

Thanks for your comments & suggestions.

Your wiping of the disk may be down to a poor quality signal (even though the picture might normally be quite watchable).

Suggest you post the SignalMonitor results so that we know exactly what your signal quality is (quality on all muxes should ideally be 100 but 98+ is probably ok. Much less than 98 then you are likely to have problems)

Hmmm. What I need is each number for each channel. Perhaps I asked the wrong question. Thanks anyway.

Bit embarrasing but I need help with this DSO for Hannington.

Tried ChannelOrganiser and that only captures a very small set of channels and no BBC's using 'Current Tx'.

If I expand CO's setting to look at 'All Tx's', I get duplicates all over the shop that CO says it can't deal with.

Currently I'm getting:-

BBC1 Ch 45
BBC1 Ch 53

Neither of which are the Ch #'s displayed by FastscanGUI for post DSO Hannington tx :-?

ITV1 Ch 60
ITV1 Ch 43

Film4 Ch 41
Film4 Ch 55

I have in the past been able to get duplicates from Cystal Palace, but again couldn't reconcile these channel #'s to that used by CP either :-?

Signal strengths and quality readings a very similar across the duplicates.

Can anyone point me out of the mire?
Hyde.

It means that you are picking up Oxford as well as Hannington.

I suggest using FastscanGUI, (you may need to do a couple of factory resets first) so that only one transmitter is scanned.

Ch 45 is the post DSO channel for BBC A

Oh yeah. Didn't think I'd be picking up a Tx that far away and pretty much in line with the Hannington Tx too.

FastscanGUI doesn't have the correct Ch #'s stored for post DSO. It's listing:-

42 45 51 41 44 47

Whereas other websites are saying:-

45 43 40 46 44 41

and then for the 22nd Feb change:-
45 42 39 41 44 47

??

Resolved. Switched CO to review by signal strength and that displayed the channel #'s so I could delete the duplicates from CP & Oxford Tx's. Phew! Only 3 more toppies to do!

Have you got the latest FastscanGUI (v0.6d)? I have just checked and the intermediate channels are now correct.

Feb 22nd Meridian Retune - What Should Have Happened?

Post by simplesimon »

Currently getting a good signal from Hannington and, with the aid of FastscanGUI v0.6d, the first stage of the switchover went fine. The second stage was yesterday and, since I was away, I only got around to rescanning this morning.

I selected the appropriate Hannington entry in FastscanGUI and, as part of the auto-rescan, saw the HD channels (56,57,58 & 59) being found. However, when everything was back up and running, there was no sign of these channels in either the Toppy or MyStuff EPGs. Trying to manually switch to these channels simply said no program information stored. All other channels seem as expected.

I have seen exactly the same thing when rescanning on my Sony Bravia TV i.e. everything else is OK but there is no sign of anything being stored on these HD channels.

Now, I know that the HD channels don't come on until 4pm so is my problem simply that I should rescan after this time, or is there something else at work (aerial is only a couple of years old so I wouldn't expect this to be causing any problems)?

Many thanks, in anticipation

Well the toppy doesn't recognize HD so, although the channels may be defined, you won't be able to watch them i.e. delete them using Channel Organiser.

I guess you need to rescan the TV when they are broadcasting HD.

The Topfield, and probably your Sony TV, is incapable of decoding HD and therfore you wouldn't see anything on these channels.

Do you get all the SD channels you are expecting.
