sorry in advance if this is a silly question ...

when my 5800 is up and running the front displays the channel number being watched. I would prefer the time to show instead - as it does in standby. Is that possible?

You could try the TF5000 Diaplay tap, that lets you customise the LED display. Although originally written for the 5000 it was modified to run on the 5800.

But it will probably require someone to post their copy of it. The Toppy.org links are broken and the Tapworld is still dead.

That's for a 5810 display (masterpiece type display) and probably not the 5800. It's the TF5000 Display TAP that allows the time, plus many other things, to be displayed on the 5800,.

The display TAPs for 5800s and 5810s are NOT interchangeable. The display on each is very different, and requires a different TAP.

It's uploaded on my website - TF5000DisplayV1_53a.zip

Put it up there back in Oct-2009 when someone else asked for it !!....
