5810 editing channels

Post by sdi2 »

For some time now the response to the remote control has been sluggish.
It was suggested that if I removed unwanted channels this might improve things.
So far I have not been able to do this. I can't seem to do it on the machine. I have tried VEGA channel editor but the instructions seem to relate to sattelite channels.
When I give it a go, it says that it was successful, then immediately after that I get a message "flash version check error" and I can't find any trace of an STB file.
So, can I edit the amount of channels?

Thanks, Nick.

You can use the Channel Organiser TAP or do it manually by pressing OK to get a list of channels, scroll to channel to be deleted, press RED, select Delete, confirm. Repeat for other unwanted channels.

Note that you can only delete channels when you're not recording.

You can find Channel Organiser on EMJB's website.

However, while it's a good idea to delete all the dross channels, the thing that will make a BIG difference to response to the remote is to switch off Interactive Services. If you need red button services (remembering that you don't need it for the Red Button channel, which you can reach directly by selecting channel 301), put the MHEG On/Off TAP in Auto Start which will switch them on only when needed.

Your signature shows that you are using MyInfo B5.4; suggest you upgrade to B5.6

It would also help if you could post the output of MyInfo as slowing down may be as a result of your channel lineup.

If you have a windows pc, try TopManager and paste the output of the "Display| MyInfo Log" option. You can also use the "Tools| Install Taps" option to provide a simple way of upgrading MyInfo.

Thanks for the replies.
I am trying the MHEG tap first, I won't know for a day or two how well that works.
