BBC Local Radio

Post by gramps »

It looks like the BBC is looking to put their local radio stations on Freeview. I'm not sure how many there will be but it looks like only the few will be broadcast by each transmitter. For example Mendip may only have Bristol, Wiltshire and Somerset.

Thanks to Bizman for the info on this.

I doubt if this will cause problems for the Toppy but you never can tell. Best guess is that a range of LCNs will be used (719 to 722) and they will have different radio stations depending on the transmitter. So lots more duplicate LCNs for those who can recieve multiple TX. This could be an issue?!

But it will mean a large number of logos will be needed to cover all the BBCs local radio stations for taps like of Mystuff.

Many of these radio stations are actually broadcasting at present in their test/commissioning phase, but you can't receive most of them without special equipment because no LCN has been allocated. The range 719-722 has been reserved for when they do come 'live'.
FWIW BBC Radio Bristol is already live on Mendip on LCN719 (BBC A/PSB1)

OK thanks for that. I thought it should be but for some reason my notes were out of date.
