Date for your diary: Your next re-tune.

Post by Bizman »

Just when you thought your Toppy settings were ok, there are another bunch of frequency changes on the horizon. Channels 61 & 62 are to be made available for 4G mobile. There is a transmitter list with the new frequencies and dates for the change at

The transmitter list used by TopManager already caters for these changes (until March 2013 anyway)

The list does go past March but any change dates past then are not exact.

Also, my list only includes those transmitters listed by FastScanGUI - I can add extra transmitters if anyone has a requirement.

If you fancy doing a retune of the SDN (COM4) multiplex you should pick up LCN55 with a 'real soon now' message for the 5 Later channel.

I just noticed an annoying message on film4 asking me to retune.

Annoying because I had set toppy to record a film, and the message was an overlay on the film.

There's some reschuffling going on to accommodate the soon to arrive Film4+1 on LCN45. After a rescan the message should go and you may be able to find a repeat showing of the film.

@Bizman There were a handful of new channels (travel and some others I deleted). Film4+1 has also got its slot reserved.

It was only a few weeks ago I did a rescan following the short recordings incident.

It's been a busy time for new Freeview channels, LCN 42, 45, 55 and 61 being the most recent.

True: But in the past channels used an MHEG overlay to say "If you can see this message you are configured wrong. Press YELLOW for info or BLUE to go away". This, obviously, was not present in the recording.

As Film4 have chosen to do it, it's burnt into the video image.

We have the technology, but we couldn't be bothered ...

Film4 +1 is now up and running on LCN45 and any retune messages for it should now be on LCN791 which can be deleted.

If you are getting to enjoy this retune business you will have noticed that Food Network has now been moved from LCN48 to LCN41.

Film4

Post by seadog »

After many rescans I have still lost Film4 on 15 but it is available on 1049. Is it possible to change the numbers over? I can't do 1049 on my remote or is there some way to do so?

What method are you using to do the scan? I recommend you use either Channel Organiser or TopManager. If your signature is correct, you have a lot of out-of-date stuff there. MyStuff has an installer that will do the updates for you.

This suggests that you hadn't done a factory reset before rescanning. The Toppy does not delete old channels when scanning, unless a factory reset is done first.

Using Channel Organiser or TopManager, as Bizman suggests, solves this problem, as old channels are cleared before rescanning with these methods.
Toppy PSU repair service or capacitor kits for DIY available - PM me for details.

Film 4 seems to be a bugbear, I did a factory reset and Film 4 was actually duplicated
