MacTF-EPG versus JustEPG versus Toppy

Post by simonk »

I am confused about channel mappings between my Toppy & MacTF-EPG & JustEPG. Basically, they don't seem to correspond - resulting in either empty channels in the onscreen EPG or the wrong channel being recorded (ABC1 instead of ABC2, SBS1 instead of SBS2.)

As I am going to want to record Lost & Heroes on 72, I thought now is the time to put my hand up and get some advice on what i need to fix these three things...

Versions:
TF5000PVRt (Er, not sure which version of the firmware...)
MacTF-EPG 2.0b3
JustEPG 16.01

My Toppy Channels are:
Toppy     Station     Channel     Freq
2     ABC1     60     753500
3     SBS ONE    57 732500
10     TEN Digital 11 219500
9     NINE Digital     51     774500
21     ABC2     12     226500
33     SBS TWO     57     732500
71     7 Digital 1     63     774500
72     7TWO     63     774500
99     GO!     51     690500

Here is my JUSTEPG ini file:

Looks like you haven't rescanned your channels in a long time. First thing I suggest you do is delete all your ABC and SBS channels and rescan them. ABC2 is now on LCN 22, SBS2 is on LCN 32.

Mmm, well I actually rescanned them only about 6 weeks ago...

(I didn't delete the existing ones though - because I thought they were all overwritten...)

I'll delete the SBS & ABC ones first and then rescan.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Rule of thumb is the LCNs must match in all programs that are EPG related. So go through the configuration of each of you programs and ensure you have these LCNs correct - a quick scan of your posted config files shows they are't. As you are in Melbourne the LCNs are:
2 ABC1
3 SBS1
7 Seven
9 Nine
10 Ten
12 ONE SD
22 ABC 2
32 SBS 2
72 7 Two
99 GO

Oh, and don't use the JustEPG menu to set your location, you'll need to edit the ini file directly on your Mac and then copy to your Toppy.
Cheers Simon

Yeah, the first time I tried to record GO! I had a problem as the Toppy had a duplicate of lcn99 (the old listing), so it (or JE?) got confused. So definitely worth it to prune any old channel info from the channel list.

So to sort of summarise, to get everything working, you have to get all the steps in the chain right. Any of the following can be a problem:

1: making the TGDs with the right LCN (MacTF-EPG) - make sure the channel map is right (yours looks ok)
2: loading into JE: specifically the "LCN0=2 LCN1=22, etc" bits are the important one (but remember to adjust the nicknames etc, or you'll get confused). As mentioned, in the original post the lcn21 and lcn33 entries are wrong and need updating (and to add lcn72 there too).
3.: channel list on Toppy itself. Delete any duplicates (or delete all and rescan). Double listings means the other one (blank one) might get recorded.
4: if using epg_loader, you might need to adjust there too, or maybe it was automagic? Its been a while since I used, so I forget.

Okay, this is the weird bit:
I rescanned my channels and...
ABC2 is STILL on 21
SBS is STILL on 33

Now my instinct is to change the ChannelMap to match my reality :lol:
but how could my station scan continue to be consistently wrong...

No need to delete Favourites. I suggest you do a complete reset and power-off at the wall. Note: you'll loose your favourites and timers, but you can backup you timers with a TAP such as UK Timers - worthwhile installing just so you can backup timers.

Searching TAPWorld I came across Back Settings. Maybe give it a go.

Hi Simon,

Yes - the factory reset has done the trick. And I used PBKs timer export function so no loss of timers there.

Couple of edits to the JUSTEPG and I have now all my channels bar 7TWO - but it's in the data so shouldn't require too much tweaking.

Thankyou you very much.

From your original post your JustEPG ini has.

Code: Select all

***** Set to the channel number shown on your Toppy LED display.
***** Set to 0 for EMPTY slots.
LCN0=2
LCN1=21
LCN2=3
LCN3=7
LCN4=9
LCN5=10
LCN6=2
LCN7=21
LCN8=33
LCN9=7
LCN10=99
LCN11=12
LCN0, LCN1, and LCN6 are the same channel so get rid of two.
LCN7 should be 22
LCN8 should be 32
LCN9 should be 72
Cheers Simon
