In Need of Help Aerial Problem

Post by Karvindon »

OK I give in, how do I find Andy Frazer so I can PM him.

I managed to edit my email address but I told you I was old but in saying that: I can play a harmonica, mind you its taken me 65 years to get to where I am.
Thanks again in anticipation,
Take care,
Derek

Hi,
I don?t know how but I found one of Andy?s postings and sent him a PM from there.
I?ll see if he gets it, if not its back to the drawing board.
I?m guessing by your profile like me you may be a member of the ?Geriatric? club.
I only have one or two more visits to the hospital to go and I will be eligible to put up for the Geriatric committee.
Thanks again,
Take care,
Derek.
PS. Have a listen to this one, I?ve played for the first time in a show yesterday.

It's the same as running any other TAP. See Accessing the native archive and running TAPs manually. The precise details will depend on what you have installed and running on your machine, which is all covered in the article.

Whatever key you're using to access your archive is the one you'll want to access your TAPs too.

Or you could use TopManager/PcControl instead of ChannelOrganiser

BTW, your signature block is way out of date.

"In Need of Help with Airial"

Hi all,
I?ve contacted Andy Frazer re servicing all three of my Topfield Boxes, I reloaded MyStuff from my computer last night and with Andy?s help today I managed to get into the Channel Organiser and delete all the unwanted channels.
I believe I have some ?Dry Joints? on the Aerial Sockets on all three of my Toppy?s but he?s going to service them.
I?ve already sent the first one to him.
He and you are all so helpful I would struggle without your help,
I just love my Toppy?s. I guess it?s the very clear EPG that makes it all worth while, I don?t think there is anything better out there.
I guess I?m OK with it all now but leaving this posting open gives me a chance tom post if I need more help.
So thank you all again.
Take care,
Derek

It is quite possible that your toppies need refurbishing but I'm surprised to hear that they all suffer from the same fault (?Dry Joints? on the Aerial Sockets)

Still, what do I know?

Hi,
I think over the years I?ve been too heavy handed putting the aerial plugs in, and one by one each has failed (IAs I said I have three Toppy's) so I moved on to the next one and so on but now I?ve ran out of Toppy?s.
With the one I?m using now, if I fiddle with the aerial plug in the back of the Toppy the picture comes on.
It started with not being able to get the more obscure channels ?32 Movie Mix ?etc.,
but still getting BBC etc. the same thing happenedc with the one I've sent to Andy.
Thinking it was the aerial I had it checked and it was perfect which only leaves the Toppy?s
As a lay person I think the solder on some/one of the joints has broken down.
Anyway I have complete faith in Andy having dealt with him in the past, so it?s now wait and see time to see what he finds.
But thanks for the comment.
Take care,
Derek
