Don't forget that the CRID doesn't necessarily correspond to a specific programme; the broadcaster can use the CRID to identify related programmes which may, or may not, have the same programme title.

L11 really only helps if the broadcaster is reusing a CRID for a different series within the default 24 week period. It won't help if the broadcaster is deliberately associating programmes together.

I have been plagued with the same problems for a long time: George Clark's Amazing Spaces is another one that spawns all sorts of other recordings. To make things even worse, I have given up having a PS for The big Bang Theory, for this reason, so use a SS instead, but that means that you have to be alert to the start of a new season, and even alert to the resumption of a season after Christmas as, in their infinite wisdom, they set a different series ID.

Now that Bob D has kindly expanded the search fields, I look on the internet to see what the first episode of the new series (or of the resumption) is and set a Text Search for a specific keyword.

Yes, I'm getting all sorts of stuff which is getting spawned off my George Clark's Amazing Spaces search.

Clearly Channel 4 need better education about how Series CRID should be used :).
Meanwhile, I just sigh and exclude the unwanted search groups each time I find an unexpected recording.

It's been like this for years (and years) and seems to be getting worse.

I wonder if Bobd would be willing to add a new option to power searches so you can set them to only record if crid and title match? Maybe on the search text? "Programme title must contain" or some such?

Or an option on text searches to not rerecord episodes, like the other searches.

When I had something similar, it was due to some "Night" showing a series of related programmes, and my PS picked them up and recorded them. It then picked up the subsequent matches in the unrelated programmes, and no amount of "series delete" helped.

I think I fixed this by deleting the PS and then recreating it. This lost all the unrelated matches, but MS still had the list of episodes previously recorded and skipped them. This was over a year ago, so I wouldn't swear it works now...

You could just use a Text Search instead.

Doesn't a text search keep recording the same episodes over and over again? They show something like 40 big bangs a week across all the channel 4 associated channels.

Yes, but you can restrict to only certain days and times by accessing the second page of the search.

By the time MS has got to the part of a PS that looks at the CRID, it's not even looking at the title any more.

6.6 and eit2mei

Post by Napo »

I have an old 5100PVR (finnish variant) and decided to upgrade my old MyStuff installation. The new installation nuked my eit2mei, and epg2mei does not seem to work.

I guess I could remedy the problem by installing eit2mei, but the problem is that it is not available anymore and I do not have it on my backups.

Any ideas what do to? Epg2mei does not even start so I can not see from the debug log what went wrong.

Does anyone have a link to a eit2mei download? Looks like all the links I could find are dead. Was it included in an older installation package of MyStuff?

Someone will probably be able to send you a copy.

This link died a death a while ago and probably needs resurrecting.

epg2mei is UK-specific.
Are you sure the update didn't put a backup copy of eit2mei somewhere on your Toppy?

What are you using to look for these files?

Remember that you can only see .rec and .tap files using the native interface on uk toppies.

If the file has been renamed, then you can't see it, unless you use something like Antares or Altair.
