Recording issues after a crash

Post by kevsterci »

Hi

My 5810 crashed at the point I think I was ending two recordings and starting another. It rebooted and came up with a message that I just started to read 'firmware....changed....'

Then I showed the Main Menu, but couldn't use the remote, although I could see the remote light flashing on the display.

Rebooted and then after a while remote worked.
I could see I still at least have recordings.

No guide present. I did a channel rescan (Channel Organiser). On the first screen part of the animation from the Main Menu was displayed over the screen. Otherwise worked as normal.

I deleted and rescanned and reloaded the EPG from the MS menu (Z2)

Now I have the issue where all the timers have a '!' next to them and don't record. They say 'timer not set: programme clashes with existing timers'

You can set them from the guide, say a series but comes with with '!' and same reason

This has always been the toppy (out of my many) that is flaky. Get it wrong when it just goes to start a recording by pressing even the channel change or guide and sometimes crashes. But it wouldn't normally loose the channels, just reboot.

Any thoughts? Remove all timers, start again?

Thanks

Sadly no help, it's been 3 days or so now. Tried starting without MS, went to look at Timer Setting (native menu) and it crashed.

Same error in Native font,' firmware changed to latest one....' not quick enough read the rest or to photo it!

Same issue with remote as before when it first crashed...an exact repeat after this 2nd crash....

Edit: rebooted again and appears to have sorted it.... Fingers crossed!

I'm assuming that all the capacitors have been changed on this toppy

Yes, although off the top of my head I couldn't tell you how long ago. Would have been the kit from Andy before he added the two extras for the 5810 however those two were changed recently when I changed all 13 of them all on my other 5810.
The 11off all looked ok then and they are decent ones, but of course don't last forever.

Have you checked/replaced the front panel battery (CR2032)?

Are you sure that there are no duplicate channels?
Toppy PSU repair service or capacitor kits for DIY available - PM me for details.

No duplicates, just the maximum channels recommend.

Battery was changed recently too. No clock issues.

Seems to be behaving now!
