Ide cable info needed

Post by pace508 »

I am thinking of upgrading my hard drive, I would be using startech ide2sata adaptor, the need for ide cable to connect the hard drive to topfield, I wouldn't be confident drilling hole in ide connector, so is it possible to buy this cable

I'm not aware of any.

You may find that with most of these connectors the hole is already there underneath a fairly thin plastic plug.

You may be able to press through the plastic blanking with a sharp pointy object of, say, half the diameter of the hole you want. I've used the point of a compass in the past for this task (compass for drawing circles)

Just guessing - if you are using andyfras for the psu, ask him if he can provide a modified cable.

That's why when I upgraded I chose to use the slightly more expensive Turbosat SATA adaptor board since it doesn't require an IDE cable. It was just plug and play.
