No Series Link

Post by dcgregor »

I have a 5800PVRt
Yesterday I installed the Recommended Firmware (without TAPs) using the Firmware Loader Tool and for a short time I was able to set up series links.

But then that facility disappeared.

So today reset my machine to factory settings and repeated the installation of the same firmware. Nothing changed so I repeated the process, but I am still not able to record a series.

Does anyone have a solution?

Which Recommended Firmware did you install? Only 5.14.09T has series link without TAPs.

If you installed 5.13.65T, you will need MyStuff or similar to provide series link functionality.

From http://www.toppy.org.uk/downloads/firmware.php

Code: Select all

However, there is one important caveat ? if you have a TF5800 (old or new version) with a firmware version starting 5.14, please note that you will lose the built-in series recording facility if you change to our recommended firmware. You can achieve similar functionality by installing TAPs, and it will probably give better results, but we realise that some people prefer just to use built in functionality. If this is the case, we recommend that you use firmware 5.14.09T.
Possible reasons why 5.14.09T is not well regarded and the older firmware is recommended on a 5800.

One option is to install the Mystuff TAP which will transform your Toppy (for the better)
See the video at Youtube to see how to set series linking with MyStuff

Using the TAP installer x6.1b I installed the "recommended software" eschewing the series link software that was not recommended.

So from what alan_m has posted I see that I need to instal TAPs and so I shall now investigate these

However if anyone can give me a link to a suitable TAP that would be much appreciated.
