Perhaps this discussion is redundant now that there's a patch to do the job, but I've been using Improbox's no-roundel option for the last two years, and I've never seen a roundel in that time (except of course when I've booted without autostart TAPs).
Ah, ok. Maybe PBK's remove roundels feaure and Improbox's remove roundels doesn't work well if both are enabled. Or maybe some other my TAP causes my "problems". Or then it is Finnish FW (I doubt this)

Is there any chance of an R2 (2x) or R3 (3x) patch? With R5 the roundels disappear just a bit too fast for our liking.

PS R2-D2, having reverse engineered code in the past I think that what you are doing is quite exceptional - keep up the good work!

Yep. I'll have a look later.

Edit: here we are: [R2], [R3] and the old [R5].

ahh, spoke too soon

[R2] must be 13.40 specific and I'm running 13.65 :(

HDFW 2.3 says not intended for this firmware. Any chance of an updated version, if you ever get a break in your busy patching schedule!?

cheers,

neil

[R2] is working fine for me on 5.13.65, but I'm 'hard patching' not using HDFW.

Is that my normal trick?

I imagine you're trying to apply it to a firmware with [R5] applied. They are exclusive, so you need to remove [R5] first. If you're testing in RAM then select "Use firmware in RAM", deselect [R5], press Recall, select "Use firmware in RAM" again and then select [R2].

Ahh, thanks for the quick reply R2.

Didn't relaise it was exclusive, although, if I had stopped to think about it, they have to be! can't be 5 times and 2 times quicker at the same time! Doh! :?

many thanks for the quick updates and repiles, you're a star! (Hope you do get some time off from patching occasionally!)

cheers

Possibilities to get the patches to work in TF600?

Post by Larionof »

Hi,

Was to ask this for a while already but...
Is there any visible means that these pathces available for 5100 are to work on TF600? I especially am interrested in the 'No Roundels' and not to use extra TAP's instead.

I fear I am not able to get them to work on my own and s the size of the roundels, and the fact that they stay on for ever if in pause or slow play mode, are such annoying that I rather use the almost-dead 5100 instead of 600 :(

If a firmware patch isn't successful your could use either the PBK or ImproBox TAP.

Well, I knew these programs do the deed in TF5xxx but unfortunately to use either one of them requires either to disable all other features or again change how my system works.

For example, I use percent jump and prefer it over minute jumps. TF600 does index automatically the point one stopped the viewing the last time. I use EPG Navigator TAP and that already does the paddings and appends the recording names with the recording time.

But, nevertheless, I will rather use Impro's demo for the time being than look at the gigantic roundels, which stay on on pause, and other viewing modes, which is really annoying.

Playback roundels but not record?

Post by MarkPax »

I'm running NoRoundels which is great, I hate the record roundels, they interrupt my viewing pleasure.

But NoRoundels also suppresses the trick mode roundels, which I do find useful. In particular I find the FF roundel useful so I know how fast I'm going. (particularly if I use WindFaster!)

Is there a compromise solution which squashes the Big Red Record roundels but keeps the "1x" "2x" FF/RW roundels? I wouldn't mind the red circles appearing, it's the larger lozenges with the filename in them that really bug me.

I've looked at the Improbox and Playback Keys manuals, they look hellishly complicated, and it's not clear they do what I want, so I've not yet tried them out.

thanks in advance for any suggestions
