There may be some occasional glitches - for some reason, Apache seems to 'forget' the virtual hosts config from time to time, but I'm trying to get to the bottom of that

I could say almost exactly the same thing. Thanks also to BobD and the MyStuff crew, and to all those people who made the firmware stable or wrote other TAPs. These days I'm more of a streaming/downloading viewer, but the Toppy served me brilliantly for over twelve years.

Noticed that since the move that it now takes longer before it allows me to go back to the new post search list after reading an updated thread. I seem to remember it was like this a long time ago but it was then tweaked to reduce the time to a more usable value. Has this tweak been left in the bottom of the cardboard box used for the move?

I can't remember whatever I might have tweaked for that; but pretty much nothing was changed in the move from one server to another, besides pointing the database connections to the appropriate place.

Hi Nigel,

The Forum does not display properly in a browser (and hasn't for some time)

I'm using Win10 on a wide screen display.
The top two horizontal lines draw through the bottom part of the "Google" logo and through the "Custom Search" text

I thought this was probably down to my browser and/or display settings, but having finally fired up my old XP system, I get the same effect there.

The problems exists in the browsers for:
Win10: Chrome, Edge, Windows Explorer
XP: Opera, Chrome, Windows Explorer

It also happens on my Galaxy tablet (Android, no idea what the browser is)

Note: This may not be related to the change of server

It's OK in Pale Moon (Firefox) Win10 (subSilver).

Ahh, I see what you mean if you are in Toppy2 format.

Try viewing in compatibility mode in IE, I've had to use that for years. :)

Since the change of server, I'm now seeing "only secure content is displayed" in IE.

Just change your forum theme to subsilver instead of Toppy2. Subsilver works ok on WIN7, XP pro and android using IE., Firefox, Chrome and Opera

Thanks for the tips.

It is Toppy2 format
ToppyNarrow works ok'ish (but very wide on my screen)
Don't like Subsilver (too garish cf Toppy2)
The other formats seem to produce a standard size page with excessive amounts of white on the sides.

Explorer does work for Toppy2 if you put it in compat mode.

However, I like Chrome and Toppy2. I don't want to change browser and Toppy2 looks best to me (well it used to!)

Home page wierdness

Post by Fiendish »

Hi all

If I go to the normal homepage "https://www.toppy.org.uk/" I get a strange page that says
"under construction - This domain has just been registered for one of our customers!
Domain registration and webhosting at best prices.
oneandone
"

However I can go direct to "https://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/index.php" (and thus get here).

Anyone else experiencing this?

Tim

Ah; that's because I tweaked something to make the MyStuff pages work, and I think I put index.html higher priority than index.php

Ahaha! I added index.php and everything now works correctly. Thanks Nigel.

If you ever find an Enigma/Vix for non-Unix savvy people forum, I'd love to know about it.

A little late to the party, but I'll add my thanks for this site too, Nigel.
