Hmm, only going from memory, but although you need to pad an extra byte when you byte-swap on uneven, don't you specify the actual size somewhere during the transfer, so that it works out when the Toppy re-swaps it?

I'm pretty sure (but will have to check) that MacTF doesn't append a byte.

I'd call it a feature. If you don't want the HDD on all the time, you can disable timeshift. But when you then find you want to pause something, you can just hit pause and begin timeshifting, with no need to go to the menu, re-enable timeshift etc. Speeds can vary depending on which platform and whi...

...and also there is a bug, as youcan enable to time shift from turbo mode eg yur transferring a file from toppy to pc using turbo mode , so you got no remote, but press the pause on remote, it does nothing, ok, that would be right, now stop the file your transferring to pc and watch your pvr pause...

I'm aware that peteru isn't very impressed by the implementation of USB on the Toppy, but I'm not after great performance or anything, just something that doesn't crash on what should be simple (receive one packet and deal with it)! I too had somewhat given up, but if it is true that usbtest.tap wor...

MacTF v1.3

MacTF 1.3 has been released. It has a brand new user interface based around a modifiable toolbar, and is finally multithreaded. A Finnish localization has also been added, and there are also a number of other smaller changes and bugfixes. You can find it at www.noates.com Screenshot available at www...

There is a standalone installer without iTunes (although why people don't like iTunes is a mystery, but whatever). Try http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

TAP compiler differences

Hi, hopefully I have the story right: recently deangelj on the Oz forums has been working on usb communications and he stumbled across the fact that compiling the usbtest.c sample provides a TAP that crashes a lot when run and sent usb commands (using any version of the API). However, the topfield s...

I gave it a go, but it was not a clean compile. A few references to types defined in the linux headers were fixable by defining them myself, but I stalled at one stage due to usb_dev_fs.h (or something similar) not being present. Not sure if this is part of libusb or linux or what, but I had to give...

... then convert to TS using MPEG Streamclip, then use the Java converter to go to Rec. I'm pretty sure this last step is unnecessary. After converting to a TS, just (re)open that up in StreamClip, and hit upload. It asks if you want to upload the current stream, and when you say yes it converts it...

I don't know of anything like that. I actually haven't followed what ftp4t can do - I gather it translates ftp commands into topfield ones and vice versa? Your best bet is maybe to get the ftpd code (linux) and see if you can get that to work. I once got a semi-working copy of puppy running by splic...

I'll bundle the new script with the next version of MacTF-EPG, but until then you should be able to replace the script in the MacTF-EPG app bundle itself (right-click it, Show package contents, etc), and then get the extra functionality by editing the channel list.

Here's my TAPs: Display TAP: shows me what's recording, the time etc. Really useful if the TV is off but you want to know what the box is up to. (OZ/UK) Archive TAP: Great replacement for the standard file list. Keeps progress info on files so you can start where you stopped, among many other things...

As Nigel says, MacTF-EPG is based on the TGD file format, but it would not be impossible to change the import/export formats to MEI or somesuch, depending on how different it is from the current one. Once it's in memory it would work much the same I guess. I actually haven't been following MyStuff o...

MPEG StreamClip on the Mac allows you to stream stuff OFF the Toppy fine, so the speed seems to be enough, but as you suggest it really needs to be at USB2.0 and with Turbo on.
