I'm not certain, but as it's a perl script shouldn't it be run with "perl genwget.pl"?

MacTF v2.0b2

Just a quick note to say I've released a quick beta version of MacTF (v2.0b1). It's got some major under-the-hood changes which has hopefully improved stability greatly as well as enabling some funky features like being able to queue transfers, browse the Toppy during transfers, etc etc. Some planne...

Yep, that's expected. As I need to hit the Toppy right at the moment it starts its USB up in order to not miss the window of opportunity (and also cause it was much easier to program!), ToFi just sits in a tight loop polling the USB port. It's probably not the best way to do it, but I expect most pe...

Strange. Not seen anything like that before, looks like a timing thing? Just to verify the rest of the process, could you load up that firmware file without any cable attached and see that ToFi goes crazy looking for a connection (i.e. it pegs my 1Ghz CPU at 100%). The next step would be to probably...

No idea why it isn't working but here's some questions. Have you made sure that StreamClip and MacTF are both off (as they may interfere theoretically)? Is ToFi actually polling for the connection (you can tell as CPU will go crazy once you've loaded the FW file as ToFi sits in a loop looking for th...

Yep, StreamClip is great. Not sure if the Windows version has caught up with the Mac one, but on the latter you can open the files up while on the Toppy, stream them/jump around within them etc to find in&out points, and then export to a file (so it only transfers the parts you want to keep). II...

ToppyPC does provide a software remote control through its web interface as well as through a command line (eg. toppy.exe -c generateevent <keycode>) If you don't mind me asking, John, how did you end up getting this to work without hitting the USB firmware issues? Are you doing some nifty file-bas...

Heh, not to go too far offtopic, but it seems kind of ironic that it might be easier to get the "reverse-engineered" effort working than extract a driver from Topfield for their "supported" platform (Windows).

BTW, one of my example scripts deals with uploading numerous TGD files from a directory: tell application "MacTF" connect if result is false then -- no connection available error number -128 end if end tell set the source_folder to "/Volumes/Tyr/nathan/Desktop/TV/Guides/output/" ...

Hi Jon, it's been a while since I double-checked that the UK grabber was still working fine, so I hope I haven't broken anything due to all the EPG changes here (our main source here started getting evil by encrypting and blocking everything, so I've had to rework everything for a different grabber)...

Other options I can think of: Try ToFi. It probably won't work, but it's worth a shot. I did get one update to work via USB 1.1 once, and it seemed to be update specific (ie just that update worked). So there's a like 1% chance it will work (but you might not be able to go back without a PC/slug/etc...

I can't remember if they are part of the example scripts I have on my MacTF page or not. Anyway, here's the code: on open my_items tell application "MacTF" connect if result is false then -- no connection available error number -128 end if end tell set the upload_folder to "\\ProgramF...

Strangely enough, I do the same macaholic!

And while we're on the topic, for uploading TAPs etc, I usually don't even bother to launch MacTF manually, I just have two little AppleScript droplets in my Finder toolbar (uploading to AutoStart and ProgramFiles respectively) that I just drop the TAP onto.

Other things you can try is rather than opening up the stream and downloading/converting in one go, is instead just use StreamClip's "Altair" file list and download the .rec as is. Then you should be able to view in VLC and see if it is still buggy. To get to DVD, you could then use projec...
