Re: Started rebooting at random

Lost quite a few recordings that stopped early due to the Toppy rebooting. Its done it whilst I have been watching live TV as well and I did not touch the remote. Caps done a year or so ago. Time for a replacement? Although you should get all the caps replaced as per other suggestions, try turning ...

The more complex answer is that it doesn't work on a 5800 either :(

That function dropped off with a firmware update a long time ago ...

Some 'junk' was identified in another thread as epg information for channels on the HD mux, seems that dvb-t2 supports compression of titles, and these then appeared as binary junk on the toppy and corrupted even the output of "pr event". Large no of entries for the cbbc-hd and cbeebies-h...

I see your 52 TV and 11 radio still fills the EPG table (14000 entries) whereas my 42 TV and 7 Radio still had room left. I suspect it may depend on the actual channels selected and possibly the tiime/day of the week; I'm not sure why, but :- When started on a running (overloaded EPG, gappy, runnin...

Well done Geoff, necessity is the mother of invention as they say. :) I thought that was Frank Zappa :) ? Anyway, @geoff thanks for this TAP, it is doing sterling service freeing up junk here. As an aside, my EPGClean tap is now spotting a LOT fewer gaps (normally tagging them by altering the progr...

Out of interest, what mux is it on?
RF Channel 43, aka the main BBC SD one/BBCA/PSB1

but you can't receive most of them without special equipment because no LCN has been allocated. The range 719-722 has been reserved for when they do come 'live'. FWIW BBC Radio Bristol is already live on Mendip on LCN719 (BBC A/PSB1) ... as is BBC WM (Sutton Coldfield) on LCN722, for a few months n...

Each time it has happened, I'm not aware that the Toppy has rebooted but it has failed to go back into standby. " Touch-wood with fingers-crossed ", I've had no failures since turning off IS. [/i] It doesn't reboot straight away: It seems to hang (probably due to memory corruption or leak...

Firmware, channel lists, "missing" TAPS aside, other users are now reporting this sort of stuff and it seems it IS the BBC that have changed (broken) something across other devices too.

So I'm leaving the interactive off, as it's still rock solid.

and the solution was to turn off MHEG/Interactive, has been fine since.

Re: Short Recordings - Interactive Services

On Saturday 31st Jan - my Toppy decided to cut short a recording. Over the course of the next 10 days I had several successful recordings and another 4 or 5 short ones (<10mins). A quick search on here indicated that Interactive Services might just be the cause - despite the fact that I've never su...

I've had a look down that list of patches (as described on the linked pages) and nothing stands out as a patch that I really have to have. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Maybe. It's called "Recommended" firmware for a reason. It's called the "MS6 Recommended firmware". I d...

It is usually safe by the time you have unplugged the Toppy from the mains, transported it to wherever you are going to be working on it and undone all the screws, ie. a minute or two. Usually: That's why there's a comment "except for some faults" -- there is a small chance that a fault c...
