I also find that the Toppy spontaneously reboots if set to a channel with bad reception. Certain channels (TMF/The Hits) vary in reception here, well correlated with how much rain we've had. Aside from the obvious "fix your aerial and downlead" comments, when the reception gets to the poin...

With luck a fixed version can happen later in the week. No rush -- I don't know how the blank line got in there (that's the other thing!) The failure to read it back is a symptom, not the illness itself. It may have been through setting one of the options, and then unsetting it back to default (new...

Aha! Thanks very much! Deleting the "Meisearch" directory (after saving the archive and saved searches to the PC) did it. It was remade, with a new .ini file, which is now picked up. The only difference I can see is that there is no blank line at the start. Is it possible that the .ini fil...

Nah, all the rows are labelled well enough, it's just hard to gauge the values. I found the following at Samsung's website. A "white paper" on SMART. http://www.samsung.com/Products/HardDiskDrive/whitepapers/WhitePaper_07.htm Unfortunately, as a technical document, it's as much use as the...

Send me a copy of your ini file - it may be corrupt and I'd like to investigate. In the meantime, try deleting all copies of the ini file and start over. If that fails try deleting the ProgramFiles\MeiSearch folder too. Let me know the results, as I'd be interested in working out what the pattern i...

Please be very careful handling the pcb if you really want to remove it - it can store a very hurtful  charge at around 300+VDC for a very long time waiting to bite you  I can attest to that. On a "works experience" placement, whilst lowering the chassis of a TV set into the s...

OK, thanks for that -- I'll keep an eye on the values -- I wouldn't have guessed that *low* values of "Value" were bad!

Well, all the "Values" are 100 or 200, as are the "Worst" counts, so that would seem to be okay -- nothing failing yet.

If the fuse "explodes", then stop replacing it until the unit has been fault-found. The fuse blew for a reason (to protect the unit from further damage and fire etc.) If you replace the fuse and switch on without having had any kind of service work carried out, you may well be increasing t...

HDDInfo V2.0 Interpreting results?

I downloaded HDDInfo V2.0 to my Toppy 5800 to check on the disk temperatures. On running it, I get a wonderous selection of SMART parameters, but I'm slightly puzzled as to the significance of some of them. Should I be worried by :- 0x01 Raw Read Error Rate -- the "Raw" column has gone fro...

MeiSearch 0.99 not retaining settings

Hello, I'm a recent convert to the Topfield way of watching TV :) I've installed a few taps (EPGNavigator, MEISearch, DescriptionExtender), and am having a small niggle with MEISearch. It doesn't remember the settings set up under "Options" when the box is placed in standby. I've checked w...
