Re: Toppy replacement - Manhattan T3-R

A few months ago I bought a Manhattan T3-R to replace my now defunct Toppy. Thanks for the review. That looks quite promising (and it's currently £198 from Amazon ). We already have a unix-based box (with all the tinkering that typically entails) for our main TV, and we can distribute anything fro...

I have. The only problem is that I'm really busy, and then out of the country until 5th November.

The main one is the startup mechanism - reading every recording header when MS starts means that it can take a long time before one can start using the remote (even changing channels to watch live is almost impossible). I handled it by having the Toppy automatically start up and stay on at around 6...

IMHO the Toppy really isn't a good way to access radio, so getting rid of the radio channels can make a big difference.

Off the top of my head ... There are a lot of add-ons available for it. Two that seem to ship with OpenVix / Enigma2 by default are AutoTimers and ABM (Auto Bouquet Manager). AutoTimers is the equivalent of MyStuff's Text Search. It's very comprehensive in the way that it allows you to control the s...

I'm not a man!
I think over 10,000 posts and a related Reference web site makes me a fairly major contributor
:D

But I thank you for the sentiment.

Hi Geoff Thanks for the reply. End of life in that from what I have described to Andy he thinks it has a tuner fault. Andy did say if I could find a second hand one I could swap my HDD into it I did have a look on ebay to see if there were any second hand topfields around but couldn't see any. If a...

I frequently find myself thinking that it is frankly amazing how this site is still running. Possibly the most active threads now are actually about the Enigma 2 machines. Which could do with a proper forum that isn't run by the hard heads at WOS/Vix/whatever. If you ever find an Enigma/Vix for non...

MyStuff seems to have got quite slow over the years since I first installed it. Hitting record these days usually takes about a minute before I get control back. I do have 66 channels though, so maybe that's the problem. That will, indeed be a significant factor, together with the number of recordi...

Re: Are there any Linux boxes like MyStuff?

In addition to my trusty Toppy, I'm setting up a second TV in another room. This will let me watch a bit of TV alone when the family are watching something else :) I want to get a satellite box, and as far as I'm aware, the only satellite boxes that let you re-order the channels and have channel lo...

Correct - there will be no more updates.

As far as I'm aware, BobD doesn't even have the development tools on his current PC.

Neither do I.

However, there are EPG views that don't cover the full screen, which may or may not stay put.
