Loading the standard timers.xml during boot is also slow when the retention period is long, as is populating the timers list as by default it shows all the retained completed timers. Agreed, but insignificant compared with the 80 Mbyte pm-timers.xml file I had. Utterly useless in normal usage as on...

An issue arising from lack of user documentation (that I have found!) is that the default time for retaining information on recordings made, watched and then deleted is short (1 week compared with MyStuff's 6 months, IIRC). Unless this is increased, this causes havoc with channels such as Yesterday...

I've given it a go, short description checks look fine, but full descriptions generate clashes. Again an example of where some user information would be useful - there are no "full descriptions" on Freeview, and somewhat oddly when nothing is compared with nothing the result is that they ...

Am I right in saying that details of recorded episodes are taken from "completed timers"? Yes. If you select to avoid duplicates from "any service or recordings" the recordings will also be checked, but this seems to be of rather limited value as often a recording will have been...

That's such a basic feature on a modern box. I don't get how you catch every episode (even if it moves time slot) without re-recording every repeat without it. Or am I missing something? The Autotimer facility uses "fuzzy" logic to compare episode descriptions to identify repeats, and thi...

I still monitor this site, and could help if a bug were found or instructions etc not clear, but probably not as quickly as I used to.

You then go into AutoBoquetMaker and select providers. A list will be downloaded and its here that you set your TV transmitter/region which then, when you scan, will only scan for the frequencies (MUX) from that transmitter. While this will work satisfactorily for the majority of users, a few users...

Thanks, jimi.

The main difference in X9 is that it can divide MyStuff chained recordings into separate E2 files with the appropriate times, names, and descriptions.

@TopTapper Thanks for that info. Until this morning I have been testing my new version by saving to a PC disc, which is much quicker than saving to the E2 PVR, and all seemed well with the ".ts" files. However when I save to the PVR I see truncated files. I could have messed something up i...

@TopTapper The problem with large files that I found with my latest unpublished version was purely related to the calculation of % complete, and the output files were in fact OK. I am fairly sure I introduced the bug when adding the "de-chaining" logic, so I would expect X8 to be OK, but I...

Hi EMJB Thanks once more. I didn't mention anything at the time because I though development was unlikely... converting rec files under X4 I found that large recordings - around 2GB+ - were silently truncated. If you'd like me to test X8 (or host the file) just let me know. Thanks for the informati...

I have sent a copy of version X8 to those who have requested one. Please pm me if you do not receive it by the end of the day (sending ".exe" files via email can cause problems, even when the extension is changed and the result zipped). Please note this version does not handle MyStuff chai...

Unfortunately, due to family health issues, I have been unable to spend much time on Toppy or E2 activities recently, but the offer to supply copies of old stuff still stands.

@ alan_m Your satisfaction with the scanning illustrates neatly how people can get very different experiences. When I started ABM was the only way I found of getting LCN-numbered channels, but had a significant problem for me - it generated (and still does, I believe) channel lists & EPG data ba...

I found OpenVix no more complicated than Mystuff. It seems to me inevitable to me that OpenVix will be somewhat like "marmite" - loved by some and hated by others, for reasons such as: (1) The skins allow tremendous flexibilty as to what is displayed and how (rather than just colour &...
