In the end I've had to settle for using

Code: Select all

lsusb | grep Topfield | sed -e 's/://' | awk '{ system(sprintf ("puppy -d /dev/bus/usb/" $2"/"$4" -c dir", substr($0,49), substr($0,49)))}'

Re: Missing mountdevsubfs.sh

Thanks for your help birdman. I can get puppy to work by using the -d option to specify the device. Sorry for the confusion, I should probably have stressed this more in my original post, but I have always been able to get puppy to work by using the -d option in the command line. The problem is that...

Not that I'm aware of. Anyway, things have moved on. This morning I tried puppy-new_dev_scan (npuppy) and it worked ok. So I tried to work out what had changed and realised that I'd used the original puppy to copy some files off the toppy last night. I rebooted and as expected npuppy gave usb_claim_...

Ok, over that hurdle but unfortunately not at the finish line yet. I've tried all 3 and none of them work. They give the following errors New Static & New usb_claim_interface returned an error (-16) Old ERROR: Can not perform autodetection. ERROR: /proc/bus/usb/de...

Thanks for your continued help birdman. I fear your instructions were not noddy enough for my limited intelligence! Download them, rename them to remove the descriptive part, put them somewhere convenient, make them executable, run them. Download them sudo wget http://birdman.dynalias.org/cg...

Actually I'm going to be running Puppy on my HTPC which is a Zotac ZBox ND-22 which has a Celeron processor. So I guess I need the i686 Older version? For info, my Asus is still in use, connected to my 2nd Toppy which I use for Radio recordings. Edit : Having looked at that page again I'm probably g...

Thanks Birdman.

Excuse my ignorance (Linux is not my first language!). If I'm running XBMCBuntu, which would be the 'relevant' download?

Missing mountdevsubfs.sh

I'd like to use puppy to transfer files from my Topfiled PVR to my xbmc installation. When I try to run puppy I get ERROR: Can not perform autodetection. ERROR: /proc/bus/usb/devices can not be open for reading. ERROR: No such file or directory I can get puppy to work by usin...

This might do what you stated BUT is it what you want? One reason why Mystuff adds the date (and sometimes time) is so that you can have multiple episodes in the same folder. This script overwrites the file and you will be left with last only! #!/bin/sh for f in *.rec; do #strip .rec n="$&...

I'm wating for my slice of Pi too.

I know you said you prefer books but I found this quite useful. It also shows you how to use Oracle VM Virtualbox to create Virtual Linux machines on a Windows PC which means you can play about with various OS flavours.

Good point juwlz, will have to keep an eye out for them and autofile them on the Toopy so that TFCopy doesn't see them. Tested TopTapper's code on some dummy files and it worked exactly as I wanted. Added it to my overnight download task and this morning the 2 films that were due for transfer overni...
