I'm sure Andy has had to swap tuners before, there is also a transistor that could have been damaged by PSU excursion

I still have a tap running to sort this out for me, my sig says it was DumbWidescreenTV 2.44; but I do recall trying different ones many years ago, but what I currently have seems to work for my needs! Will look tonight.

There have been a few Freeview changes relatively recently? Wonder if something referring to a moved/deleted service? Best summary of changes I know is on:-

I recall the second tuner can have higher signal due to the Toppy amplifying before sending out the short link cable. I'm sure mine not symmetric - have experimented to find best combination. Must be installation dependent - they wouldn't have provided the ability to feed each independently from ext...

start->"search box"->msconfig

Allows you to create a boot mode between normal and safe mode as a selective startup. Hopefully you can find which service or startup app is the problem.

+1 for successful repair on 5800 with component supplied by Andy. But my local "old solderer" who assisted with repair commented how poor the soldering was on that front panel pcb, and touched up several potential dry joints after review under microscope, so maybe I didn't really need to c...
