Re: Error Message: firmware was changed with a latest one

To read etc. a toppy formatted disk on a pc you need TOPFHDRW Available from andy's web page (downloads at bottom of page) https://sites.google.com/site/andyfraserelectronics/freeview-and-satellite-recorder-repair/topfield-pvr-faults The install puts a .pdf document/instructions on your PC - German ...

Re: Error Message: firmware was changed with a latest one

When the Toppy first switches on the USB port becomes active and this is when Antares detects it and transfers EmptySettings. This is BEFORE the software boot process which may then load different USB drivers. This start-up USB mechanism is the reason that is hard to brick a Toppy. It is the recover...

Re: Error Message: firmware was changed with a latest one

What happens if you boot without TAPs by holding down the zero button on the remote as it boots up? Possibly switch on from the mains plug and hold down the zero key until you get a menu. Remember that if a Toppy has lost its channel settings you cannot get out of the menu until you again scan for c...

well I tried to rescan and it wouldn't do anything those two bars showing level and quality one showed about 50% and the other showed nothing I imagine the tuners have given up. I then put the hard disk in another old toppy but after quite a while I remembered the usb port that connects to pc is no...

The 5800s will become redundent when I no longer have a TV with a Scart input. I used a Scart to HDMI patch lead on the LG OLED with no Scart. I thought it was doing it's job. Recently though, I think it was only passing the weakest of signal through. I have now bought a Scart to HDMI upscaler - so...

@ccs CO shouldn't change the content of the your .ini file now (although the date may change). This is because the latest I've removed all the broadcast times from the latest Freeview.dat. As you are used to stopping CO early, I suggest you just carry on doing so. Geoff Cheers, I stopped using my t...

That boat sailed, did a few world cruises and docked again many years ago now.
Current boxes and AV amps are now supporting 4/8K TV.
SD on terrestrail is likely at some time to move to T2 MUXs which cannot be decoded by a Toppy.

On a quick look, that Humax box looks pretty decent and there's an option for a larger HDD in it too. If I was looking now for a plug it in and use it (rather than plug it in and immediately want to break out a code editor and start to tweak things) then it'd be between these 2. Chromecast built in...

There were people who didn't want Mystuff on a Toppy because it was too complicated. :)

I happened to have that very one open in a tab. £478 is a lot more than the Humax Aura 4K Android TV Recorder . What do you get that is worth the extra £200? Possibly nothing. The Egima box will be more of a broadcast TV box/PVR with no catch up TV or catch up EPG. The Humax is more of a mulitmed...

Enigma boxes seem to concentrate in satellite signals. I only want terrestrial. It’s true that Enigma are more satellite orientated and that Enigma boxes with multiple terrestrial tuners are becoming harder to find but don’t necessarily rule out satellite as your source. I have more free to air...

Mine has started to display the same the first time you fire up the archive after starting it - the expiration date was 12/12/20. But then mine crashed last night and I've had to reinstall everything from backups (again!). It still displays the message. All versions of Mystuff used to have an expir...
