1. Yes, you can object to using a password forgotten form if you haven't forgotten. It won't get you very far My comment on that point was clearly a light-hearted "on principle!" joke. I'm sorry you seem to have taken it the wrong way. Obviously being randomly locked out of a forum, users...

Re: [SOLVED] Can't login or contact admin?: Forum upgrade disruption ...

Same here. I even emailed Nigel using the contact form till I remembered that using the forgotten password link would be easier for both of us  Seems only some of us were put on the technological naughty step then! I object to using a "Forgotten Password?" link when I haven't forgot...

[SOLVED] Can't login or contact admin?: Forum upgrade disruption ...

I wonder if any other users found themselves locked out of the forum after the upgrade? (If you can't log in, please post! ;) ... Problem 1: With browser-remembered password (and manually retyped) on login I got :- "You have specified an incorrect password. Please check your password and try ag...

I found the majority of the heat was being generated by the HDD not the PSU. This is probably perfectly true. However, the fan fitted over the PSU (in both cases drawing upward) moves enough air through that it noticeably helpd the HDD (before: 51-56'C, after 29-35'C) -- whether this is because the...

Rather than drilling, have you thought about using zipties? They can obviously accommodate variations in hole placement and are much easier to fit Zipties? Bolts? What is all this complexity? :) Toppy #1 has an ugly-ass 120mm *24V* fan removed from equipment. It's wired to 12v (brought out from the...

@foomanchu you're certainly not the only one :) Almost all viewing here is done by timeshifting via Topfield, with programmes/part programmes I want to keep being shoved off to a connected PC. The Topfield also acts as a DVB-T receiver for a (UHF connected) old 4:3 portable telly, and also feeds an ...

If the battery has "become one with" the contacts of the remote, such that you can't even get the battery out, then you may have to replace the spring contacts anyway. At which point, brute force and ignorance seems to be the obvious route, with caution not to get chemicals from the batter...

Re: Volume not changing on 5800

The volume display shows on the screen and moves as the volume buttons are pressed but they make no difference to the sound levels which come out at TV volume levels. Another reason is possibly that one of the SCARTs (the TV one, TOP) respects the volume slider, and the other one (marked VCR, BOTTO...

Re: Standby

Does any one know a setting that I can use to put the machine onto standby after a minute or so. No TAP needed :) The Topfield has a built-in "Sleep Timer", which can be set to standby after 10 minutes, if this is quick enough for you? Press "Opt", it's the final option on the m...

Ok - the TF5000PVRt supports dvb-t, but you described it as a TF5200PVRc twin cable box. https://www.cnet.com/reviews/topfield-tf5000pvrt-with-iceguide-review/ Oddly, the OP actually described it as a hybrid, note :- "I have a Topfield TF5000PVR model (shown on the front of device)" "...

Re: EPGNavigator: Tap kits that need to be installed

So, can any EPGNavigator users advise me of the taps/files I need to put on the disk (and where)? ... I'm guessing that I need to install EPGNavigator and UKScheduler (UKAuto) as a minimum. I use EPGNavigator with Description Extender (TAP), and don't have UKScheduler/UKAuto, so it's not mandatory....

I'm the other one :)

As a data point, I still use Description Extender 2.1 and EPGNavigator 5.1c on TF5800 -- I just checked Film4 and I can see full details of the programme info.

When I connect the USB cable to th drive, I can hear it spin up as normal, and then it "chuinters" a few times, repeating a whirr, click, buzz sequence a few times before it stops. Occasionally when I try, it makes slightly different sounds before the casing beeps. I didn't know they put ...
