Re: My TV switches source when Toppy comes on

If I'm watching my samsung tv using the Samsung's own dtv tuner (or perhaps another member of my family) and the Toppy comes on to record a programme, then the TV switches source over to the Toppy. This can be handy sometimes but most of the time it's really annoying. There's no way I can see of co...

As an update, it does seem it was the HDD that was at fault; possibly due to the rather high running temperature. The other symptoms I had (remote response sluggish amongst others) have now disappeared. I have a fan and will be fitting that at the weekend - I'll run the HDDInfo TAP afterwarsd and se...

If you have a windows pc, suggest you try my TopManager program before swapping the disk eg 1) Baseline MyStuff 2) Baseline MyInfo 3) SnapShot|Take The above should help you reconfigure the toppy with the replacement disk. Note: As you suspect the current disk, I would recommend that you load the f...

I've had a measure of the voltage levels and the PSU looks to be ok. I'll try the 300Gb drive I have lying around and see how I get on with that.

Thanks to andyfras for some helpful PMs.

I've had hard drive changes in the past and used TopfHDRW then, and it's a very handy piece of software - thanks for the recommendation though.

Ok, so I just turned the Toppy on to get a list of forthcoming recordings to set those up on my other machine, and I noticed onscreen graphics are being drawn really slowly, so I guess it must be the PSU. I've PM'd Andy to see if he can take a look for me. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, fol...

Hmmm - Toppy's now going into a continuous boot cycle - it gets to MyStuff searching and reboots, but when I select '0' to prevent TAPs loading, all is well, so I do suspect the drive, although whether it's the PSU failing and that's caused the drive to play up, or it's simply(!) the drive, I don't ...

Ok - first things first - there are no bookmarks atr all anywhere near the point at which my test file stops. secondly,I tried to copy said file across to my PC but the transfer stopped a fair way through, and I had to reset the Toppy to get it back again, so I guess that portion of the file is defi...

Thanks guys - I'll try both. I was also going to copy a faulty recording to my PC and see if there's anything noticeable at the point of failure, although I'm not sure that'd tell me too much. I think my signal's fine, but I'll try that tap to be sure.

Thanks again

Some programmes stop on playback

Hi all - I have two Toppies, both with the same hardware and setup as per my sig., but one with its original 250Gb drive, and the other with a replacement 500Gb one (replacement performed years ago). The older of the two (500Gb) had a PSU fault some years back, and it was repaired at nominal cost by...

So here are some questions for all of you with this problem. Is the Edit Search box still on screen at the time of the corruption? No - the corruption occurs when 'save' is pressed. Is the S icon on the screen at the time? No. If you restrict the time window of the TS to eg 10.40 to 10.41 so that n...

I've done a clean install, and it still does it. I've even reflashed the firmware to rule that out. Now I'm stumped. Perhaps my topfield is on its way out. I've already changed the capacitors in the psu not that long ago and it was fine before I changed them so I don't think any damage could have b...
