And apols again for late reply - the cat ate my homework. A new version of the logos file can now be downloaded from here: http://shinyford.co.uk/toppy/logo.zip I should point out that the MyStuff logos file should work perfectly well with iGuide, and is the 'official' one used around these parts. B...

Hi all - apols for late reply, I've been away.

I'll update the logos on the iGuide site tomorrow.

Cheers

WL500G and Serial Port Strangeness

Hi all - I've just attached the serial port of the Toppy to my WL500G (via a pl2303 USB/RS232 cable) and it all works well. However, when 'cat'ing the output, I'm getting interactions with the command console. Which, I thought, shouldn't happen - cat should be one way, shouldn't it? [admin@W...

Changing admin password on a WL500G

Hi - does anyone know how to permanently change the password on a WL500G?passwd works, and changes are written into /etc/passwd (= /tmp/etc/passwd) but that is not one of the directories saved by flashfs save/commit

Cheers

Cool. And using samba, you can get closer to a 'proper' mount, I assume?

TBH, the interesting thing for me is the connection between the ASUS and the Toppy - so I think Puppy is probably my only solution.

Thanks, both, for your input here. Yes, there's no less in the standard WL500G busybox installation, so far as I can tell. But it's quite an old Asus, I think. I eventually got things working by following birdman's notes here - so thanks for those. I must have somehow been pulling the wrong binary d...

WL500G: Problem with /opt/bin commands

Hi all I'm trying to set up a WL500G, and I'm having problems with ipkg. Or sh. Not sure which. I've install less, a relatively simple command: ipkg install less which installed fine. The binary has been placed in /opt/bin/less. However, when I try to look at something... [admin@WL /&#93...

Fantastic - thanks for the new repo address. Glad to see my basic assessment of the problem was correct.

Ah, I see - that's the file at http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/wl500g/Packages . Problem is. so far as I can tell the package info just tells you what the .ipk is called, not where it can be found in the interweb (well, there are some source locations, but I don't think I have the wherewit...

No, nano was just an example failure - but thanks for the tip. I'll try Packages.gz.

So, I'm now - only weeks later! - setting up the Asus, and it's all going fairly swimmingly. However, I'm having problems with ipkg. Every time I try to install something, I get the following: [admin@WL root]$ ipkg install nano Installing nano (2.0.6-1) to root... Dow...

Actually, yes, I found it at the top of page 4 of this thread, from the (almost predictably) ubiquitous R2-D2. Many thanks, both.
