Re: S/PDIF audio delay setting

I'd like to use some wireless headphones with my TV. Naturally lip sync is a problem No "naturally" about it. I use RF wireless headphones fed from the analogue audio output of the PVR or other device and there is no delay. However, if you are thinking of Bluetooth wireless headphones the...

My suggestion was to leave one MUX as T1 hosting the SD versions of the main channels (BBC1, ITV etc) but I think that would now be of use to a rapidly decreasing number of users and can no longer be a justifiable interim step.

I have moved on with the more universal adoption of HD and beyond and the increasing use of online services. At the moment my main device is a BT Youview box (prime reason being to watch MotoGP) supplemented by a Digitalstream Freeview PVR and a Humax Foxsat PVR and also a Chromecast dongle controll...

Since moving my radio recordings to my Humax Freesat recorder I have been using the tsMuxer free utility to extract the *.mpa audio track to rip to my PMP. This is a lot quicker than using rec2mpg as there is no conversion involved. (actually my dish has gone out of alignment during one of the winte...

I must admit that I'm watching more and more on our YouView box. The latest software also has a list of programs you've watched on catch-up, so you can almost use that like a DVR and watch a series of programmes easily, catching up if you missed the first couple of episodes. The only downside is th...

Perhaps they will go with my suggestion that they leave one MUX on DVB-T to host the main channels in SD for the foreseeable future: BBC 1/2, ITV,C4 and Five plus as many radio stations as will fit.

Simple change of LCN as you list does not make it necessary to rescan. The "new" channel launches might if you are interested in them.

Geoff Bacon wrote:you always need to rescan to pick up new channel lineups
Absolutely disagree. You only need to rescan if a channel of interest changes MUX. In this case a simple change of name is not going to stop you watching or recording it.

Software gets upgraded or replaced for a reason But not always to the benefit of the user. For example, an app on my Android tablet was updated two weeks ago to give it a new front page. Nothing wrong with the old front page either aesthetically or functionally as far as I could see but the update ...

Clocks go back tonight

Can never remember how well each device copes with clock changes so I always set a dummy timer on all of my PVRs for early in the morning ahead of the first real recording of the day to give them a chance to shake down and switch to winter mode. Especially as it is the second RWC semi tomorrow at 9a...

I am afraid I went back to the dark ages and picked up an old Digitalstream Freeview PVR for a song in a sale to replace my Toppy to add HD capability and with the modded firmware flexible fixed time recording repeat modes. Doesn't cope with COM7 (BBC News / BBC4 HD etc) so have to leave that untune...
