Capacitor set to repair my TF5810

My website has information on every Toppy fault that I have come across and found a solution to; including self-inflicted. Hi, my treasured toppy that has served me well for many many years is failing, the signal is becoming ever more pixelated and fragmented. I am assuming conventional wisdom dict...

Hi Andy as ever the case your advice is spot on, I did exactly what you suggested and yippeee I now have total control of my Toppy instead of it controlling me. I can now get to work on releasing 92% of the disk space by transferring "stuff" onto my windows laptop. Household peace ensues, ...

file transfer from TF5800 to PC or Mac

Hi Andy I am trying to transfer recordings from my TF5800 onto my mac mini or MacBook pro or windows 10 laptop, so far many hours have resulted in Zilch. Is it possible to to do this, I cannot connect my 5800 onto the wifi or via a cable. I think I maybe doing something utterly silly in a numpty kin...

File transfer from Mac to 5810

Hi all, long time no see, my attempt to get a 7260 working in the UK met with limited success so I have moved back to the 5810. However I am having problems transferring files (TAPS) from my Mac to the 5810. Is there a simple FTP software that will enable me to do this with a USB connection or over ...

MacTF not connecting

Good Someone will be along in a minute to tell you about Channel Manager or whatever that sorts out the QVC tat for you. Never used it myself but I hear good things. What version of MacTF do you use, on what OS X version? I ask because I am fiddling with the MacTF source code, Nathan Oates was kind...

Hi, sadly I am waiting for my old (no HDMI) TV to break, I live in hope, but I will test it on my daughters lovely modern TV, I'll let you know how I get on.
Hi, I have now taken up Andy's suggestion and hooray I now have a functional PVR once more.

I have a TRF5810 and although the picture is fine I also get just an annoying crackle when I play live TV or prerecorded programs. I am presently replacing the capacitors 8,9,1011,13,14,15,16,17,18,19. Will let you know if this makes any difference. Hi all well it seems that I have been successful,...

Do you mean noise through the speakers or from the box itself? How is each device connected? If using scart leads, are they both the same quality? The noise is coming from the tv speakers, retuning seems to make no difference. I replaced the scart with the 5810-white,yellow,red to TV-white,yellow,r...

Hi all, I have just bought a second hand topfield 5810 and although the picture quality is good the sound is appalling. The sound is a mixture of a boiling kettle hissing, a log fire crackling and someone gargling. There is speech in the background but it is indistinguishable from the rest of the no...
