Thanks for all the kind replies. Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you (I was surprised today when I saw the dates on this thread). I'm generally very happy with the way my toppy works apart from this one little niggle, so was hoping that there was a TAP or patch to simply help with this. I've...

There is some information here about gcc_for_tap:

Thank you so much for that.

TAP compiler / toolchain wanted

I'm looking for a way to build a Topfield TF5800 TAP. I cannot find any working compiler/toolchain links. http://www.ourbackyard.net/toppytools/gcc_for_tap.zip and http://tap.berlios.de/ are both now dead. Could someone please provide a link to gcc_for_tap.zip and/or the toolchain creator (I'm on Wi...

How can I trigger an EPG refresh?

I'd like to know if there's any way of triggering an EPG refresh (OTA UK Freeview). It seems the only way that my EPG gets populated is when coming out of standby. When the gaps start appearing, I usually enter/exit standby to refresh it. That's not always convenient - e.g. a recording's in progress...

Thanks for the explanation ccs.

"Postpone entry" - what does this do exactly?

I'm using the standard firmware (+TAPs +patches) without MyStuff. In the "Timer Setting" menu, the blue key is "Postpone entry". Does anyone know what this does exactly? Does the postponed timer automatically get re-enabled at some point (e.g. a daily timer postponed for only one...

Re: WD2500AVJS and Pata to Sata Adapter

I have got the disk working on the Toppy cable but not on a spare longer cable. However, the TAPs will not work and the recordings are pixelated. I had a similar problem with pixelation when I installed the "typical" IDE-SATA adaptor like the one you link to. I could not use the original ...

Re: Latest TopfHDRW and drives > 1tb

Has anyone tried using firebirds new version to write to disks bigger than 1tb yet? I'm thinking of upgrading to a WD15EARS 1.5 TB SATA, but want to be able to copy everything over to it from my existing 250gb drive. There'll be no problem WRITING to big disks with the original version, READING was...

HDRW will let me initiate a copy from the Toppy disk to the XP disk but HDRW crashes every time the first copy completes. If I select multiple files to copy, it crashes after the first file completes. Am I doing something wrong? You're not doing anything wrong. This happens. We should be very thank...

Toshiba MQ01ABD100

Here's another working disk - Toshiba MQ01ABD100. Working with Turbosat SATA adapter for a week, no problems. It's a 2.5" 1TB disk. It is the disk inside the portable external USB3 "Toshiba Canvio Basics". It was just as cheap as a bare disk to buy this, open it up and remove the disk...

Firebird has done us proud and updated TopfHDRW :D FYI: I?ve just uploaded an updated version of TopfHDRW , which should handle disks larger than 1TB. ?Should? means that I couldn?t do any tests because of missing hardware. jof successfully copied some files from his 1.9TB drive, but this is it and ...

2TB full and still working, but I have a plan...

Hi, I have a near full 2TB drive (WD20EARS) in my TF5800 (10GB free) and it's still working fine. But, I've recently had a different WD20EARS in a PC give up the ghost, so I want to change my Toppy disk pronto. The problem is that the only way I can archive anything is via USB which is far too slow ...

Re: Toppy stuck then offered a reformat. i said 'np' but it

The problem is that the old Visual Basic just knows signed 32-bit integers, which means that the tracking of used space hits the ceiling at 2^31 * 512 bytes per sector. Could you use the Currency data type (don't forget it's scaled by 10000)(assuming VB6)? That would be a relatively simple fix (I'm...

Well I'm now using the Channel Manager TAP (with MHEG on) to put the radio channels into the TV list so that I don't need the TV/Radio key anymore.

I'm still curious to know though...
Shouldn't the Rem Ext [Re] Patch pass RKEY_Uhf to Macro, or does Macro not support this?
Anyone know?

I've only just noticed that since using the Macro Tap to map my TF5800 List key to go to the Timer menu, I can no longer use the TV/Radio button to switch between TV and Radio. Is there an easy way to bring that back with Macro? Can the List and TV/Radio keys be distinct? I've tried the Rem Ext [Re]...
