The MyStuff Installer is the easy way to install MyStuff and various complimentary TAPs. It can be downloaded from www.toppy.org.uk/~mystuff If you have used the Installer to install MyStuff please post your experiences (good and bad) here so we can improve it for next time. If you have issues please post your log file and tell us your connection method and which OS you are using.

The Installer was written by EMJB and uses the FwLoad TAP for loading firmware. For more information on FwLoad options to add patches to the Recommended Firmware see the FWLoad thread.

The MyStuff Team

Just used this to install Mystuff 5.5. Was very smooth - no issues at all.

Great innovation!

Glad it worked for you. Thanks should go out to EMJB who's baby this is (and to BawBagg for the FTP code). It is also not just for MyStuff but will be released soon with instructions on how other TAP authors can utilise it.

Installer just worked fine for me.

My only reservation was seeing "not found" messages flash up and disappear before I could finish reading them. Maybe a scrolling box for them might be better?

BTW I really like this direction: makes it a lot easier to install and maintain. I see eit2mei and a few other essentials are bundled. Why not add a few options to install other useful stuff? Up to date logos immediately spring to mind, I'm sure others will come up with other must-haves.

Great job guys!

You must have selected the default install, and not noticed when the logo packs were installed Smile.

Check the installer log file in the same directory as the installer .exe.

the speed of the messages are configurable, if people think they are too quick it's easy to slow them down...

Hmm. No log file found.

Don't think I'd vote for slowing it down if there is (might be?) some easy way to review the messages afterwards.

It did refresh my logos? I'm not so sure, unless the logo pack is missing some channels: Dave, ITV+1, Virgin, Red Hot, ...

You're looking for a file called "MyStuff 5.5 Installer_log.txt".

It should be in the same folder as you ran the .exe from.

(Nervous - because this was a last minute change to the installer!!)

Can you confirm if you did a default install, or an advanced install??

Hi there,

the default action is not to overwrite logo files if they are already present. This is just incase people have custom .dats and don't like us deleting them. You can either edit the install.cfg and take out the NoOverWrite statement in the Logos section, or just steal the logo.dat and smlogo.dat out of the zip file. These logo files are bang smack up to date.

log file should be in the Installer directory although I couldn't see the writing mechanism in the .cfg so this could be a small release glitch. Bawbagg can you confirm?

Yup - I took the log instructions out of the .cfg file so that the installer would dump the log file in the same folder as the .exe on the PC. (This was Hyde's request this morning - we'll blame him if I screwed up!)

Just updated using the Installer. Must say, what a joy it was to use. No problems encountered, so I look forward to using all the new goodies (Recycle Bin and B2B recording - Yo!).

Mine did a 'Verifying Files and Folders' on reboot. Otherwise there were no problems.

I had used 5.21a, so used Advanced Install.

All went well, except messages too fast and no log file.
So I missed that it had not copied the skin I had been using.

Also the description on download page did not (to me) make it clear that the Installer download included tha TAPs etc. I read it that it was just the Install program FOR all the bits. So I downloaded it AND the Full archive ... then looked at the content and realised my error!

But now running 5.5 - and very good it is after a little play.
Many many thanks to all involved in MyStuff for making a good bit of kit such a pleasure to use!

Martin

I'll look at these problems tonight, and hopefully upload a revised installer zip so folks still to download can utilise the benefit of this feedback.

Many thanks,

BB
