I was watching topgear today recorded from last night, I pressed stop and it didn't create a bookmark.

I tried playing back and stopping again at a different point and still no bokkmark.

On all other recordings I have made this TAP works great.
Has anybody else noticed this?

If the Bookmark TAP isn't in the Autorun folder and you put the Toppy into standby, then it gets disabled.

Cheers,

Ray D

Thanks for pointing that out but the Tap is in the autorun folder and works ok on most my recordings. It won't work on this recording and others that I have deleted.

I can't get it to work at all. And, it's in the Auto Start folder.

When u say doesn't work, do you get the white square appear when you press stop?

If working correctly it should create a bookmark where you pressed stop.

After choosing play of the recording you stopped:
If you press play the progress bar appears.
If bookmark4u worked correctly it should of created a bookmark which is a green dot on the progress bar. If you now press the yellow key it jumps to this boomkark.

Only recently on a few recordings the green dot does not get created when the stop key is pressed.

This only appeared to happen recently, I did have over 30 recordings in the recordings folder.

Do you have the progress bar up when you press stop, as I have found that this seems to prevent the bookmark being placed.

Oh, you press the yellow key, do you? RTFM, I suppose. I could save so much time if I did, but I like things to be intuitive Smile

I think from memory that the progress bar appears for such a short time that I have never noticed a green dot. i'll have a look when I get home tonight.

I must say though, I have only waited a couple of minutes into a show before creating a bookmark- still testing it you see. Does it make any difference if the bookmark is so near to the beginning of the recording?

No the progress bar wasn't up when I pressed stop although it may of been the first time I pressed the stop key. Maybe this screws the file up.

I'm sure that the progress bar just flashes up briefly when I start a recording. I'll have a look later, but I am afraid that I get to watch so few of my recordings that I have little experience of the progress bar.

We seem to watch recordings of ITV soaps all the time, but the wife is in charge of the zapper while these are on and I have my head buried in my laptop Wink

That's a good point and something else I need to check. Thanks Gary.

Yep; that is the case; on other Topfield models, it doesn't matter so much about what's on screen. But since our bookmark functionality is available only when the progress bar is displayed, the TAP looks for the Stop key and sends the sequence Play, Green, Stop.

That's why you can see the progress bar flash up briefly, but of course it also means that if it's already on screen, it won't work.

I'll see if I have time to tweak this, maybe next week; it was a quick and dirty fix to make a bookmark on stop work when the new UK firmware came out. What I really ought to make it do is check to see what's being displayed, and modify behaviour accordingly.

Nigel.

I have just tested out bookmark4u without anything else on the screen and it now works ok for my top gear file.

I am also running improbox as well so I may have had this displayed at the time. I can confirm if the progress bar is present then it doesn't create the bookmark when pressing stop.
