HELP Exclamation My kids have found a backdoor PIN code that always opens the IRD, channels, and menus, irrespective of what PIN code I have programmed into it. This is on a TF-5500-PVR running 5.2.71. The backdoor PIN code is 2606. Does this happen on other models as well, and how can I disable it?

I dont think you can disable this. Its a sort of maintenance pin in case you forget the pin you set.

I was gonna say perhaps you shouldn't post the actual code here, but a quick google search for "topfield pin code" shows where your kids got it from ... .

But perhaps someone could find the hardcoded PIN in the firmware and write a configurable patch?

Kevin could you get your kids to hack the firmware and solve the interupted replay problems. Laughing It might keep them out of trouble for an hour or two.

Here's a disable master pin patch.

To apply it to your chosen firmware you will need Version 3 of Firebird's firmware patcher (other patches can be downloaded from TAPWorld)

Put the tfp file in the same directory as FWPatcher, run and tick the patches you want to apply. Then upload to the Toppy as normal.

This patch has only been tested on 5.13.39 but should work on most firmwares.

If you ever forget your normal code, a factory reset will restore it, or you can reinstall the original firmware and use the master pin.

Well, they'd need to know the custom PIN to do a factory reset and if they're doing firmware updates to hack their way in they need a damn good telling off!

Hi Mikey,

no he means clear it. The patch Simon has made patches the firmware to disable the master code. You blow the new firmware to the Toppy and the master code is disabled. If you do a factory reset this keeps the master code disabled but resets the user set code to the default (0000). The only way to get back the master code is to blow the firmware again with an unpatched firmware,
