Can somebody explain exactly what additional functionality Remote Extender brings to MyStuff.

I've read the readme and it's not very clear to me what it actually offers.

Thanks for your help.

Not all the buttons on the remote work when using TAPs as they would work when using the native toppy user interface. I can't remember them all, but the ones that spring to mind are are the P+/P- buttons for scrolling channels. Without Remote Extender installed these buttons don't scroll the channels in a MyStuff on screen display, Now&Next for example.

The MHEG version of Remote Extender - extends (sic.) that functionality to detecting when the OK button is pressed. If you're inside an MHEG (interactive) application, then the OK button is passed to the MHEG application and not the TAP.

In other words, the MHEG flavour allows you to assign OK as an activation button for a TAP without preventing the entry of teletext page numbers.

Simon - is there any reason anyone might *not* want the MHEG version?

I can't think of one (unless it's for non-UK Toppies).

I'm not a fan of the MHEG version as it causes the default EPG to display when you press Guide whilst viewing teletext.

Simon

I'm running a 5800 with loader C5.14 / v5.3.34 and software 5.12.99

I've been running RE 1.2 (non-MHEG) with no problem and have just installed the MHEG TAP that is being shipped with MyStuff5.0 - on loading a message is displayed saying something like "this TAP is not compatable with this version of code" (or something similar) and offers the following info:

456
1299

I notice that the "new" TAP is dated 11/10/06 anyway, so has it actually been updated? I've reverted to the non-MHEG version alongside MS5.0 - will they be compatable?

Yep, non MHEG RE is compatible with MyStuff. I wonder if I have bundled the wrong version :-S

Simon?

I don't think I ever properly released a 12.99 compatible version. Well, until now!
