How does one do this?
I looked at the Simple Installation Guide and it mentions using PiP and PipSwap to swap the tuners around. However it says that to display the signal info you need to:

"Press "Menu" then scroll down to "Installation" and then "Service Search," and
you will find the characteristics of the channel you are tuned to, shown on the
two bars.
If you progressively work through the stations listed below, you will be
checking out your reception capability."

But I couldn't work out how to 'step through all the stored channels (plus it doesn't identify the channel displayed). I tried Auto but it just did a rescan so I ended up with duplicate channels, grrrr.

Hi,

Yeah, I think the only way is to exit out of the menu back to the TV, change channels and go back in.

You are correct in using PiP to swap to the other tuner - it'll display the signal for the current tuner.

You need the channel frequency number (kW) for each of the six muxes and not the channel LCN.

Look up your transmitter here:-

http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/transmitters.html

Make a note of the frequency number for each mux and key that into the appropriate prompt on the service search page.

You can see which tuner will be used for a given channel by pressing the White key whilst you have a PiP window open. The Sub-Services List will have either T1 or T2 for each channel you scroll too.

That's useful info - tx.

I wonder if the 'Simple Installation Guide' doc is updateable since that procedure isn't at all obvious - espec for new users. (Also I'd hardly call the procedure 'simple'!)

If not, then an updated version of this doc (that I'd missed before on this site TBH) this would make a great 'How to check Reception' appendix for the new manual. Are you listening Nigel? Wink

In case this helps anyone (it's not very clear which tuner is in use) here are the exact steps that I did to check Tuner 2's signal info:

- Tune into BBC1
- Press PiP, BBC1 should be in the main and PiP windows
- Press 3 to switch the main window to ITV
- Press White to show which tuner has BBC1 in PiP (mine was T2)
- Switch T2 to the main window by pressing PiPSwap
- Press White, ITV should be on T1 and BBC1 T2
- Press Menu and go into System > Installation > Service Search
- BBC1 on T2 should be displayed along with signal strength & quality
- You can verify that T2 is being used by pulling the Ant 2 cable (the signal should drop) - plug cable back into Ant 2.
- Change search mode to Manual and select the different MUX channel numbers as indicated by http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/transmitters.html and compare with the numbers obtained for T1.

I found that the T2 levels were identical for signal quality. Signal strength was mostly the same apart from a couple that were 1% down - however MuxD on ch55 was 5% stronger!
