Looking forwards, having read the mei2archive thread it seems to me that as long as I stick with MyStuff - which is the plan - I won't ever need to fix the files themselves and mei2archive won;t add any valiue. Or am I missing something?

If you use MyStuff exclusively both mei2archive and STIRF are redundant since MyStuff keeps it's own information about the recording. You'll only need to fixup the recording header itself if you use some other method, such as the Toppy Archive, another tap (e.g. Surfer), or perhaps if you transfer the .rec files to a PC.

I'd assumed if you use STIRF then you must be doing one of the above, in which case mei2archive is an alternative. If however you're planning to switch to exclusively MyStuff operation you won't need either STIRF or mei2archive.

Edit: Just re-read my post and realised my original "Pretty much" comment could be mis-interpreted Embarassed so I've reworded things.

Great. Just a case of me as a new convert learning the full capabilities of MyStuff.

If you remember I was one of the ones with constant reboots at the search stage. The only thing i havent done this time is do anything (i.e. remove eit2mei freeview.mei file and recreate) with eit2mei. I've left it alone.

I'll keep you posted.

I have not had any problems with 4.51 and when I loaded it on Bastille day I did nothing but copy it over the previous version. While it was running in fact. left everything else alone.

Does your EPG data automatically reload every 30 minutes?

Set up is as in the 4.51 thread - epg reloads every 1 hr.

@d2mac, ceejay13, or anyone else with 4.52 crashes:

Are you around now to try a quick prerelease of 4.53?

Scratch that. I did a manual eit2mei (as a test) scan, came back an hour later and the toppy was "varifying files and folders".

Rebooted it and all ok - for the moment.

Firstly, you (and all others involved) deserve a medal for MyStuff - it really is superb.

I tried 4.52 last night (deleted MyStuff.dat, overwrote the TAP) and initially things went swimmingly - CTs recreated fine.

HOWEVER

as with 4.51, as soon as I ran rt2mei on the PC to update the MyStuff.mei file and reloaded the TAP (MyStuff 4.52 was unloaded from the Toppy beforehand), it crashed on 'Searching' and lost all channels (after booting, it verified files and folders with the main Toppy menu underneath). When I exitied the menu after scanning, 4.52 did actually work so some progress has definitely been made.
I had some recordings scheduled so I reinstated 4.5 as I wasn't confident about the situation yet.

I'm happy to try 4.53 for you, but does the above help in any way?

Thanks for 4.53.

The extremely good news is that it no longer crashes on replacement of the MEI file Very Happy

Also tried editing some CTs with no problems.

I think you've cracked it! Let me know what other tests you'd like me to try, if any.

Anyone else need me to try anything (bearing in mind the TAPS & EPG population I use as listed below)?

Great news Iken. Can you just keep running this afternoon and let me know if it still behaves?

If it does, and if none of the other test users report a problem, we will probably go for a release this evening sometime. I will post a message here or in a new 4.53 thread when I do.

Once 4.53 is out and ok, we will start to look at the padding timers issue that has been reported by some users.

I managed to to recreate the reboot on someone elses Toppy. i.e. after a manual eit2mei search the toppy reboots and you get the verifying files and folders thing.
It happened when the eit2mei search completed. Hope this is useful BobD.

We can test 453 if you like to see if it fixes the issue.

I am not sure if this is helpful...
I have been running the .88 firmware (no reset) and the latest version of the following taps since the first day of launch
MyStuff
Description Extender
Tap Commander
Remote Extender
TF5000 display
And I have had NO problems.
I popiulate the mei from my NSLU2 every day.
I get MyStuff to check for updates every 60 minutes.

The Topfield is used by 3 people every day.
