A couple of days ago we got part way through watching a recording and stopped. When we returned to it last night, the recording had been cut down and the last 10 minutes of the programme was missing. Im 99% certain that this was not the case beforehand.

I've also been experiencing a recent spate of failed or corrupted recordings.

The only thing that has changed is a much greater use of MHEG during the football.

The only other symptom has been a single dot appearing on going into standby. I wouldn't be surprised if this correlated with the period of problems with recordings, but I am not sure. With four dots, I always unplug for a minute. I am starting to suspect the single dot needs the same treatment.

Ian,

Can you please confirm whether or not you use your Toppy in a "nearly full" way. ie. Most of the time you run with very low amounts of disk space, deleting recordings to maintain a sort of status quo?

Also, please refer to this thread:

I did run the Toppy pretty full for a while (regular warnings from Jags about low filespace) and there were times I was down to a couple of hours of spare recording time. I did tend to turn timeshift off when in that position simply out of caution. Never had a problem at the time.

However, I've recently caught up with a chunk of stuff that I had been saving for a long time and the net result is that I have more space. 20G spare at the moment. And as far as I can remember, that was more or less the position when I had the recording truncated.

I note that this "low space" bug appears to be a new phenomena and that always begs the question what changed? I would draw people's attention to the MHEG factor, especially after seeing another post in the general forum. The recent sporting events will have encouraged a lot more use of MHEG features to get live stats, switch between matches, etc. I wonder if that puts more pressure on the spare disk space in some strange way.

PS. In case anyone wonders if it is the TAPs, don't rely on the signature since I recently updated several, notably Jags.

Ian, I have had this "low space" bug once before, some time ago. I think in .09

I'm not suggesting it is unique to .25 or even new, just that something has increased the frequency and greater MHEG use during the world cup / tennis might be worth looking at.

Of course, I might equally be wildly off target and it is simply that with regular use more and more people are hitting the limits.

Such is the nature of intermittent bug finding.
