If you create a CT from within MEISearch it works fine and creates a CT but with the highest priority in the MyStuff CT list.

Is this configurable? so that it does it with, say, the lowest priority. I know you can move it down manually in MyStuff, but just wondered if this was just how it is?

I think Mike.Hinson (?) has complained about this. There is no way to change the priority from within MeiSearch.

Glen.

Hi Guys,
I need a bit of a help. I have been reading all forum messages and read about firmware update and it is really taking over my life from doing anything else?..

Last night I installed the latest firmware TF5800PVR_456-458_5.14.09Plus on my TF5800 PVR.

After removing all previously installed TAPS, I have installed MyStuff562c which appears to be compatible with the latest firmware, or atleast I haven?t found any problem as yet.

I have looked at the firmware patch options and I am not really sure if I need to install any of those.

I have in the past used MaiSearch 1.30 which I was happy with but wouldn?t work with the new firmware. Should I install the latest MeiSearch (version 1.35)? Is this compatible with the latest firmware?

I only want to use these two TAPS which I have used in the past and happy with.

I haven?t had a chance to use the PVR since firmware upgrade and MyStuff562c installation; please advice me if I need and specific patches.

Thanks

As mentioned in reply to your other post in another thread, your main problem is not the TAP but the firmware, which isn't compatible with most people's requirements of a firmware.

The latest version of MeiSearch is 1.37.

The firmware recommended for any 5800 is 5.13.65+patches, available from the members area (which you should have discovered by reading all the forum threads), and there is a specifically more-patched version of this recommended for use with MyStuff, which you can download from BobD's web page.

Either that, or stick with the buggy 5.14.xx firmware (as thoroughly discussed here, although to be fair, that thread's title does make it appear to only apply to 5810s), and live with the fact that your Toppy won't go into true standby.

Well, it does but only because TF5810 owners pretty much have to run 5.15.X, and TF5800 owners pretty much shouldn't be running 5.14.X.

True, but it's probably the only place where the bugs in 5.14.xx are listed in one place. And, as you keep saying, 5800 users have the option to run 5.13.65 so there are more unfixed bugs in 5.14.xx than in 5.15.xx. So in some ways it's even more relevant as a "here's why not to install 5.14.xx on your 5800" thread Wink

Thank you juwlz for explaining so the issue so nicely.

Previously I had downloaded the latest firmware(5.14.09) from Toppy web site. I spoke to a Toppy technical support guy who suggested the firmware and didn?t say anything about the bugs it contained. I suppose it is not his job to give me the bad news.

I have downloaded firmware TF5800NITfix1365.tfd from this site and will install the firmware tonight. Do I need to remove the MyStuff562c TAPs prior to installing the firmware?
Also, am I expected to do a factory reset after installing the firmware?
Thanks for the HELP.

Im not sure if this has been mentioned before, but every time I run MEISearch (which works very well. Smile ) the toppy reboots when I exit MEIsearch.

I believe I am the latest version. The options are probably the default values.

Is anybody else experiensing this?

No, there is no need to remove your TAPs (unless you have RemoteExtender, DescriptionExtender, etc. whose functionality is now achieved by patches in the firmware).

However, if you're using MyStuff, I'd recommend downloading the MyStuff recommended firmware (there's a clue in the name Wink) and using that instead of TF5800NITfix365.tfd, as it includes all the same fixes, plus some extra patches that make MyStuff work better.

You can get the MyStuff recommended firmware from BobD's website. You can either just download the firmware and use the HDFW TAP (or whatever you normally use) to install it, or if you have a Windows PC you can download the installer and install everything including related TAPs and firmware and do it all in one go. If you already have MyStuff etc. up and running, then just the firmware is fine.

Yes. That's absolutely crucial when changing between 5.14.xx and 5.13.xx

Have fun.

Thanks Julie for the clear concise advice.
I?ll download the firmware from BobD?s website and also get the latest MyStuff 5.62c (Full) and install them on my PVR 5800 tonight.

I have in the past used MyStuff and MaiSearch and very happy with both TAPs.

I am really surprised to see your location: Wokingham; which is my borough as well.

A big thanks.

Very Happy Very Happy

I just noticed a very minor funny. On the "Recent searches" screen the white button deletes the selected search. However on closing that screen and opening it again all the searches come back. Sad

Reposted where it may get more attention.

Now I'm using EPG2MEI, my MEI file is EPG.mei, but MeiSearch is looking for Freeview.mei

Can I make MeiSearch look for EPG.mei instead, or is there another way to make everything work nicely.

Thanks.

I hope rwg doesn't mind, but here's an interim hack: MeiSearch v1.37E. This version of the .tap file will look for EPG.mei instead of MyStuff.mei.

Don't forget that MyStuff 6.0 can now do at least some of the things you used to need MeiSearch for, so you may find you don't need it now.
