Ok,

So I'm new to this but. I like the toppy but they need to pay JAG to develop his EPG for them.
The one it comes with stinks.
and you cant just bring up the channel info and flick through to see what is on each channel, like you could with my 20 freeview box!

I installed mystuff and imediatley came across the 'reseting due to no csv info' problem.
so i rectified this and was happy. but every now and then the box kept resetting. and the archive view thingy kept stopping playing films i was watching and going onto a channel when recordings began. also when trying to set timers in JAGs it comes up with a box saying 'timer resource not available' (or something similar)
I think this may be when there is a conflict of timers but why does it not say 'you are also recording 2 other programs' as this error looks less scary and is more useful.

Are there any alternatives to mystuff that are free? or another epg that you can search with?

or just an explanation would be great.

i am really impressed with this box's features but it should be better 'out of the box'

I tried to show my friend that this box was as good as sky+ the other day and ended up with egg..... all over my face.

Thanks in advance

Hi Jim, this is on the roadmap for next year. Until then there is a choice between MyStuff and also EPGNavigator (IIRC). They can both be foundin the TAPs section.

is this two seperate things, ie the box resetting and the archive stopping playing films? If so, when does the box reset and can you replicate it? As for the Archive stop playing films, I think you are experiencing the Jump to Live TV. There is a lot written about this but the easiest fix for this is to install mcgCYRResume TAP which fixes this problem.

This happens when both tuners have been allocated and you try to set something else. There is no way around it apart from looking at what you are recording and see if one of the programmes is repeated at another time

MyStuff is the most comprehension TAP that replaces the Archive, The EPG and the Now and Next info. You can get other TAPs that do part of this. eg UK Timers, UK Archive, Improbox and EPGNavigator. IMHO MyStuff is the best but each to their own, install the TAPs and have a play.

see above Wink

Hope that helps,

thanks for the response.

It is 2 seperate issues.

the resetting being the most worrying it seems to be when you go the whole way through the list. i.e getting to channel 303 and then going over to bbc1 CRASH!

and with the archive you play a recording, then goto rewind and BLAM Crash!

bizarre! i will try the fix tap you mentioned.

also jags epg seems to show the list of whats on now on all channels but then when you try and move forward an hour it takes you to a full list of the channels contents.
i.e becomes just a list of what is on tonight on 1 channel and not a full list of tonights tv on all channels.
I've tried to find a setting to change this within JAGS but non of them seem to work.

thanks again
Jim

Hi Jim,

is the crash from within a TAP, ie you are viewing channels in the MyStuff EPG or is it on the standard EPG? If you could clarify this is would help alot. Also we need to know which firmware you are using (see MENU: Information IIRC) and which revision of the TAPs you have. You can always put them in your signature as well, this always helps when diagnosing problems.

If it is TAP related then please post as much information about the crash in the thread dedicated to that TAP, that way it will get the most people reading it. If it's MyStuff then Bob, the author, is hot on sorting things out.

As for your Jags question, again, posting it in the Jag's thread may yeild an answer quicker but first off have you read Richard Wien's manual (available from the Guides section of this webiste), I am sure the answer will be in there.

Cheers
