… that's too much of a coincidence.

Sounds like they're 0kb on your laptop???

Decided to read through the thread (it is a bloody long one!)

Your original intention was to replace your 160 GB disk with a 2 TB disk and I believe that you purchased an adaptor from andyfras. Since then you have purchased a 350B disk.

I think you are trying to install on the 350GB disk.
Is this correct?
Is it using the adaptor that andy provided?

Assuming it is the 350 GB, try installing the 2TB disk and try the installer again (I'm just trying to determine whether it is a disk problem or a USB problem)
I think it is important to identify where the problem lies

Note: As a last resort, you could connect the disk directly to the PC and use TopfHDRW to put the files where they should be (the GCBMyStuffInstaller script, if you can follow it, should allow you to identify where the files need to go)

Geoff

Hi

I am trying to install the 320GB disc and I am using the adaptor provided by Andy.

OK I will try the 2TB disc.

If I try topfHDRW to install files where do I get working files to replace the three 0kB files.

Don't bother trying to copy the recordings onto the 2 TB disk - just see if the installer can use it,

The files you want are all in the Source directory created by the GCBMyStuffInstaller

Hi

Ran installer with 2TB disc, failed to complete.

When I checked toppy with TM the only files that have been installed are EPG2MEI and PruneEPG.

Nothing in Utilities folder

I don't know if I've forgotten a step in the process. i.e. Renaming files / folders

I've realised I didn't restore snapshot first.

Is there anything else I've forgotten, I think I'm getting a bit punch drunk now !

You didn't do anything wrong.

Assuming you have the 80 way cable the right way round, my diagnosis is that there is a problem with the USB connection.

Suggest you manually copy the files using TopfHDRW

Geoff

Tried reinstalling snapshot anyway

Two files I received dialog box saying the snapshot file is not as the original, so I skipped these when it came to the option of copying.
These were fastscangui and Channel Organiser.

When I ran MyStuff install it failed as usual.

There are three 0kB files

EPG_diff.mei. 0kB
MhegOnOff.tap 0kB
seccacheUK.tap. 0kB

I will try tomorrow to copy files across what do I do about these 0kB files.

I suggest you copy all files from the Source directory to their appropriate places (just in case the existing files are corrupted)
If they already exist on the disk, I'm sure that TopfHDRW will prompt you - just say yes to overwrite (or whatever the message is)

Hi have transferred files from source folder.

I am left with the following and not sure which are the best folders to transfer them to.

[0]_KitContents.txt
[Ab] AccurateBM.tfp
[Cp]ClickPush.tfp
[Mh]MHEG_State.tfp
[Re]RemExt.tfp

EPG2MEIforRT.ini
Channel Manager.ini

Channel Manager.tap
fsSave.tap
DescriptionExtender.tap
RemoteExtender.tap

Channel Organiser Scan Time.txt

FwLoadNull.tfd
MyStuff_EPGModifiers.dat
MyStuff_FreshInstall.dat

rt2mei.bat
rt2mei_Asus_Slug_Lsl_Script

Alao there were files I have noticed in my TM snapshot file folder tree which were not in source folder

namely

In Utilities folder
fastscangui.tap.

In Program Files folder
EPG.raw
EPG_diff.mei

And

In MyStuff folder

MyStuff.dat
MyStuff_EpisodesExcludes.dat
MyStuff_Excludes.dat
MyStuff_Searches.dat
MyStuff_RecordedInfo.dat

Regards

This is what the installer used to do, the links don't work but it will give you a clue where most things should go.

If it's too confusing, ignore it......

Hi Folks,

I wrote this for Bo but thought others might find it interesting. Below is what Option 1 of the installer actually does. As you will see it's not rocket science, it's just copying some files, but it is the easiest way to get the full experience.

[Edit] Changed to reflect the new changes for MS6.5.

Option 1:

1. Deletes all .lnk files if present.

2. Backup Mystuff.tap, MyStuff.dat, EPG2MEI.ini, logo.dat and smlogo.dat to \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\OldCopy. Backup SDS.tap, SDS.ini and SDS.lng to \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\OldCopy and then delete them

3. Download the latest TAP files from http://www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/MyStuff65.zip

checks if eit2mei is in Auto Start. If so deletes it and copies MyStuff_FreshInstall.dat to \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\. This tells MyStuff to set EPG=EPG.mei

checks to see if SDS is in Auto Start. If so deletes it and backs it and the .ini up to \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\OldCopy

Copy EPG2MEI.tap to Auto Start

If there an EPG2MEI.ini in Auto Start or \ProgramFiles\Settings\EPG2MEI do nothing else copy EPG2MEI.ini to \ProgramFiles\Settings\

Check to see if there is an EPG.mei. If there isn't then download it from the internet and install.

Copy MyStuff.tap to Auto Start

4. Download Logos from http://www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/Logos/logo.dat and http://www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/Logos/smlogo.dat

Copy them to \ProgramFiles\Settings\Logos\

5. Download skins from www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/Skins.zip

Copy them to \ProgramFiles\Settings\Skins\ (but don't overwrite)

6. Download FavLists from: www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/FavLists.zip

Copy them to \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\FavLists\ (but don't overwrite)

7. Optional SecCache and EIT_Sub Install

Download TAP from www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/InstallerExtras.zip

Copy seccacheUK.tap and eit_sub.tap to Auto Start

8. Optional Font Manager install

Download TAP and fonts from: http://www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/Fonts.zip

Copy FontManager.tap to Auto Start

Copy fonts to \ProgramFiles\Settings\Fonts\

Copy FontManager.ini to \ProgramFiles\Settings\

9. Optional Extend install

Download TAP from www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/InstallerExtras.zip

Copy Extend.tap to Auto Start

Copy Extend.ini to \ProgramFiles\Settings\ (but don't overwrite)

10. MyInfo Install

Copy MyInfo.tap to Auto Start

Copy MyInfo.ini to \ProgramFiles\Settings\

11. Optional Utilities install

These are: HDD_Info, Signal Monitor, Channel Organiser, FastScanGUI, TAP Commander, SerialTransfer and FwLoad and will be loaded in /ProgramFiles/Utilities

They are loaded from: http://www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/Utilities.zip

12. Delete TAPs replaced by Firmware patches

These are: RemoteExtenderMHEG.tap, RemoteExtender.tap, DescriptionExtender.tap, mheg_state.tap, EITDupFix.tap, AccurateBM.tap

13. Load Firmware

Make sure there are no .tfp files in \ProgramFiles\InstallerFirmware or sub directories

Download taps and patches from: www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/FwLoad.zip

Copy FwLoad.tap to Auto Start

Copy axel.tfd to /ProgramFiles/InstallerFirmware/

Copy [Ab ] [De] [Cp] [Sl] [Te] to \ProgramFiles\InstallerFirmware\Add\
Copy [Re] to \ProgramFiles\InstallerFirmware\Add\456\ and \Add\458\
Copy [Pe] to \ProgramFiles\InstallerFirmware\Add\457\

Download Firmware from: www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/Firmware/Recommended_5800.tfd or www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/Firmware/Recommended_5810.tfd and copy to \ProgramFiles\InstallerFirmware\

Reset the toppy.

You should have opened the Installer script and worked your way through option 1.
Basically, everywhere it says CopyFile towards the toppy (2nd argument) then you want to mimic that operation.

Hi

I have followed the install script Option 1 and reinstalled the HDD in the toppy.

But I still have the same problem of constantly rebooting.

Should I try moving some taps out of AutoStart.
