Hi,
Have just received back for Andy Frazer a repaired unit which had to have the drive reformatted. I would like to load my old settings and favourites but cannot connect the unit to the PC. The PC plays a tune when the USB is plugged in or out and running Z4T appears to recognise that there is a Topfield connected, but Z4T will not install the drivers due to "System policy has been modified to reject unsigned drivers". Have logged in as the Administrator without effect.
Anyone any ideas please?
Regards
Chris Giles

Following from my connection issues that have, thanks to Jimi been resolved. (What a convoluted process to switch unsigned drivers OFF!!!), I'm now looking for a file copy of the settings that I put in for MyStuff, a Dat file I suspect, but I've yet to find it. With multiple PVR, ATV, etc I use one Harmony remote for all with subscribe button setting which I've been using for maybe 8 years. At my age I struggling to remember just what was set for what, so would love to just load it as the file of MyStuff settings straight onto the Toppy.
Can anyone please?
Regards
Chris Giles

Your Harmony remote will not have been affected by anything andyfras has done i.e changing MyStuff settings has nothing to do with the remote.

Unless you ever saved your toppy files to a pc disk, either manually or using the TopManager Snapshot| Save option, there is nothing you can do to recover your original MyStuff settings. This is not strictly true in that you could send the disk to me to have a go using my ToppyDiskMedic program - bit of an overkill just on the offchance I can find a settings file (but I could get some of your recordings back at the same time).

Note: If you have previously used the TopManager Snapshot|Save option then you should be able to recover the file using Snapshot| Recover.

If you don't have a copy on the pc then you will just have to run it for a bit and change options when and as you notice that key presses don't do what you expect.

Geoff

Hi GeofF,
Andy did offer to send the corrupt disk to you to see if you might have better luck than he did, but I decided the recording were not that important. With internet & YouView catch up, you can pretty well fill in anything recently that one has recorded but now lost.
I did save a copy of the startup files loaded on the Toppy on my PC, but some of them come from long ago when one added bits and pieces that one no longer uses or can't even remember what it was for or what it did!!! So I didn't what to just transfer them ALL across. I was hoping that there would be, somewhere, an ini or dat file of Mystuff settings, but maybe that's too optimistic.
My 'guide' key on the Harmony use to take me to the MyStuff EPG screen and I set up a separate custom button for the Topfield EPG. Now the guide key switches between channels and only the custom button gets me to the 'MyStuff EPG' -then- 'MyStuff Now & then' -then- 'Topfield EPG'.
Thanks
Chris Giles

You could look to see if you have MyStuffExportSettings.txt among one of the pc files you saved.

If so, you can print it out and use it to aid setting the options that were valid at the time the file was created. Note: it is unlikely that the option letter/number pairs will match but you can use the option text to match old options to the 6.6 ones.

I suspect that the backup was pre 6.6 so I'm not suggesting you try to recover the binary version of the file (but you could if your MyStuffExportSettings says that it was created with MS 6.6)

Thanks Geoff, you're right it was prior to 6.6, so there is not much hope, but thank you for trying.

It would still be a good idea to make changes using the old MyStuffOptionsExport.txt file (if you have it) as many options have been there for several versions of MS.

Geoff
Note: the correct name of this file is as shown in this post (I spelt it incorrectly in my previous postings)

Guide is the default button for the Toppy's EPG, so I don't know why it's now doing something else on your Harmony, unless you've tweaked your Harmony settings too.

If you start MyStuff without a settings file, it'll create one for you with the default settings anyway.

I'd say printing out your saved settings and setting it up the same way again is your best bet.

Having had to have a complete reconfiguration I seems to have missed a MyStuff setting. Previously I'm sure my timers started at the beginning of the actual recording not the initial time setting. Now I have to skip through end of previous programmes and adverts to get to the beginning of the programme.
Can anyone point me to that setting please.

There's a MyStuff option related to 'accurate bookmarks' - from the manual:

Quote:

Option V6: Enable Accurate Bookmarking support? [No; Yes]

Select Yes to have MyStuff jump to bookmarks added by the [Ab] patch when MyStuff starts playback. More information on the Accurate Bookmarking can be found at: http://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10837. The patch monitors the Accurate Recording (Now&Next) info and generates bookmarks in recordings at programme transitions. It is already included in the MyStuff Recommended Firmware

When enabled, playback jumps to the first bookmark for a recording (which should be the transition point between two programmes / start of your programme).

If you've had a 'complete reconfiguration' as you put it then you may need to make sure you have accurate bookmark support in the firmware as mentioned above before the bookmarks will automatically be inserted.

See the manual for more info and that link above in the quotes text ^.
