Thanks - will give it a try if the reduced data no longer confuses ExamDiff & me.

Last night I produced an mei for Monday-Sunday inclusive & LCN 1-73 less shopping channels, and this morning repeated the exercise and found a number of changes:

* BBC1: There are a few apparent changes arising from re-ordering the genres, plus episode changes on Wednesday & Thursday.

* ITV1: A number of programme changes apparently associated with football

* ITV2: About a dozen changes to programmes

* BBC2: Some "to be announced" for Saturday replaced by real programmes

* Yesterday: One re-ordering of the genres

* Drama: 4 re-ordering of genres

* ITVBe: Some "to be announced" for Saturday replaced by real programmes

etc

(A typical re-ordering of genres is "Entertainment / Game show" becoming "Game show / Entertainment")

which is looking sufficiently hopeful for me to invest 4.50 in another 2 months access. Next task is to compare with the broadcast EPG, and with what actually happens!

EMJB

Edit: The new version of the episode info and of changes to movies for men mid week seem to agree with the broadcast EPG.

Have uploaded version X4 to here (as before). Changes include:

* Cast list options added - info is added to the end of the description field in curly brackets
* "Last shown" info in curly brackets is added to end of description field (when present in the xml data - not usually present for repeat channels (Yesterday, Dave, etc))
* Option to add repeat indication to the front of programme names when last shown data present.
* Can use tilde to represent spaces in file names etc.
* Some more reporting & general code tidy up
* Warning added if two few programmes are found on a channel, with customisable threshold (default = 50)
* Processing of programme sub-title (i.e. episode name) info added
* Changes to reduce memory usage and allow processing of large files potentially generated using Schedules Direct data, including option to merge data sets.

plus some features to ease mei comparisons.

However please note there will be no warning if there are no programmes on a channel.

@EMJB Thanks for the update, but you have an undefined variable 'file_params' and the date.timezone setting needs to be Europe/London to avoid throwing up error messages.

Thanks - a hangover from as2mei (and possibly rt2mei!) - not sure why I was not getting an error message.

Hi EMJB - I know you are now experimenting with Schedules Direct - am I correct to assume that X4 (and later variants) will still work with Microsoft Legacy data?

Thanks

Yes they should work with the Microsoft data, or anything else converted by mc2xml (though of course any additional data fields will get ignored). What is more doubtful is whether it will make sense of xml files produced by anything else as I haven't studied the relevant spec to see whether I am making use of optional features in the decoding.
