Which version of CO did you run? - it should have been the one in \ProgramFiles\Utilities (just in case you had an old copy somewhere else

Yes it was that one.

Downloading "/ProgramFiles/Logs/ChannelOrganiser Log.txt" I think I see the error:

Code:

Starting stage: 8
Displaying message: "Generating new EPG2MEI TAP ini file " : ""
Started EPG2MEI.ini processing
Reading Freeview data file
Running 'GetChannelData' - Data set 1
40 TV & 9 radio channels found in data set 1
'Freeview.dat' file too long for buffer
Displaying message: "Unable to get Freeview.dat file" : "So unable to update EPG2MEI.ini file"
Just completed stage: 8

Note 'Freeview.dat' file too long for buffer

You can see I've trimmed the system down to <50 channels total. And the only taps I have in AutoStart are these:

Code:

ftp> dir
229 Entering Extended Passive Mode (|||2225|)
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for 'file list'.

And here is ProgramFiles/Settings:

-rw-r--r--   1 none     none             1536 Oct 20  2010 MyInfo.ini
226 Transfer complete.

So I'll try TopManager and see what it reports, but any suggestions about the 'too long for buffer' error are welcomed.

The CO documentation I'm reading is at
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/emjbtaps/ChannelOrganiser/ChannelOrganiser.pdf

It links to these files:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/emjbtaps/ChannelOrganiser/Freeview.dat
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/emjbtaps/ChannelOrganiser/FvTxData.tsv

and after the first error I replaced the files in /ProgramFiles/Settings with those - but it made no difference.

Regards,

Brian.

Here's what TopManager says in Tools > Check MyStuff:

Code:

MyStuff 6.6 runs automatically at startup. Key settings are:-
   T1: EPG Source Filename=EPG.mei
K1: Pad Timers at Start (minutes)=2
K2: Pad Timers at End (minutes)=6

   Y1: PowerOff Handler=Internal
   Y2: Enable automatic PowerOff=No
<<< Recommendation: Change option Y2 to Yes
(The Toppy needs to be shutdown each night to minimise issues with free memory)

PruneEPG.tap is present (this will eliminate "No Information" gaps in the EPG)

Recordings are automatically being extended by Extend.tap
   Prepad  =2
   Postpad =6

The padding values in MyStuff.dat and Extend.ini are consistent

Programme Guide information is provided by EPG2MEI.tap (installed)

MyStuff required patches are present (AbCpDeEcEfMhOtReRhSl)

Favourites folder: \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\FavLists\
<<< 'All 4s.mcl' refers to nonexistent channel (18)
<<< 'My Favourites.mcl' refers to nonexistent channel (80)
<<< 'All BBCs.mcl' refers to nonexistent channels (7, 70, 71, 80)
<<< 'All ITVs.mcl' refers to nonexistent channel (72)

<<< Note: Errors in a favourite file will cause issues in MyStuff

I'll do what it says.

Oops... as Geoff said, it turns out I had been running ProgramFiles/ChannelOrganiser.tap (B1.2) instead of ProgramFiles/Utilities/ChannelOrganiser.tap (B2.1)

B2.1 is a lot more sensible, and also tells me exactly what's wrong with Freeview.dat

* LCN 30 name should be changed from '5*' to '5STAR'
* SvcId for line starting: LCN=74 should be changed to 27776
* Mux name is apparently wrong for LCN 74 - it should be COM6

So I've done that, and then it was happy, including rewriting EPG2MEI.ini

I've also tidied up some unnecessary files reported by TopManager. Now I think things are much healthier Smile

Thanks once again to everyone for all the help, it really is much appreciated.

Regards,

Brian.
