I have restarted my 'refurbished' 5800 Toppy and is operating OK.

I went thru the Options for my preferred selections but a couple of oddities have turned up.

I have set up some future recordings but altho I have Timer Key (option S5) set to White button this does not get me to Timers (only thru Archive). When pressing White button I get a picture freeze for 1 sec. and in the lower left corner a Time Shift pop up which lasts for 1 or 2 secs. and shows a timer from 0.00.00 to 1.00.00.

I thought maybe I could set a time shift for up to 1 hour somehow so pressed 14 on the number keys which just changed the channel to 14 and set that timer off for what I saw as 46 mins. But I saw it counting down for 1 hour and continues to reset itself to that 1 hour countdown.

So what is that Time Shift pop up, how to stop it and why does the White button not work?

Personally, I set the Timer button to be List. Makes far more sense to me than using the White key.

Not that it answers your question.

I don't ever recall seeing anything like the Time Shift pop-up that you describe (not that that's a definitive diagnosis of anything!).

Could you please post a full MyInfo log - it may be that there's a TAP or Patch on your machine that's causing this behaviour.

Julie

I have Timeshift on too. (But not Interactive Services - and neither have you.) And I can't see anything odd about either the TAPs you have or the order they're loading in.

Channel pruning wouldn't hurt, but that's unlikely to be directly related.

Anybody else got any ideas?

Julie

Thanks Julie for checking - rather mystifying.

I just pressed White again and that Time Shift timer is still running, starting from 0 over and over again. It doesn't seem to be interfering with anything, as yet.

Yes I need to channel prune - haven't got round to it yet.

Your MyInfo log looks ok.

You could do TM "Tools| Install Files| fsSave" - this will capture the file system once per day (assuming the toppy starts at least once per day). I can use this should your disk get corrupted. Note: This is an install and forget tap - you don't have to do any maintenance.

I'm guessing what you call the "Time Shift pop up" is in fact QuickJump (although I didn't recognize it as such from your description). QJ correctly loads before MyStuff so it sees the key presses first. It sounds as though the white key is set to + 1 minute - if you press it quickly twice it should display 2 minutes. If you want MS to handle the white key, you will have to configure QJ to ignore it (read the instructions provided with the tap).

Geoff

That's interesting Geoff, I'll attend to that tonight.

Ah - good spot Geoff. I deliberately have QJ ahead of MyStuff in my load order to be able to take advantage of its more flexible jumping capabilities.

I was getting distracted by the description of it as a Timeshift pop-up.
The place to look would be the QuickJump settings file then - to disable the White button there, but keep Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Right / Left, etc for normal and binary jumping.

Ah - White means Undo last jump by default: http://www.toppy.org.uk/~simonc/

I did not mention that in that pop up the word 'Undo' is on the upper left corner of that pop up!

Now I can't connect with the Toppy no matter what I do - reboot, pull the plug, try all USB ports.

Will try tomorrow again.

What did you do before it stopped working?

Is the toppy functioning properly?

Have you rebooted the pc? (suspect that you haven't adjusted the power saving in the USB ports)
