Right ok thanks for getting back to me.

I tried the MyStuff menu (option Z10) method, there was one older date i hadn't tried...

all timers and searches seem to have come back! Very Happy

Ran fscheck again and i still get:

Code:
  /ProgramFiles/Settings/Firmware.dat
    >>> Invalid date and/or time
This may be an indication of corruption.
To Fix: Delete the file or recover from a backup or the original source.
If an alternative source is not available, try copying the file to a
                pc (this may fail!)
If copy is successful, delete the file on the toppy and restore it
                from the pc.
Note: This issue is unlikely to cause operational problems on the toppy i.e.
you may prefer to leave until the file can be deleted.

  /ProgramFiles/Settings/FvTxData.tsv
    >>> Invalid date and/or time

  /ProgramFiles/Utilities/ChannelOrganiser.tap
    >>> Invalid date and/or time

With Analyze i still get:

<<< Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\TAPCommander.ini
<<< Some files were not recognised
<<< Wrong folder: \ProgramFiles\~FireBirdLib.tmp~ - expected in folder \ProgramFiles\Logs

EDIT: ignore the last Analyze result, missed your previous reply!

Maybe it was working all along with some of the other older backups but it didn't solve the bigger problem.

Do a Tools| Install Files| ChannelOrganiser; this will fix the bad dates

For "Some files were not recognised", scroll down to the bottom of the page and expand this section. Hover the mouse over each file and it should give you a hint. If files are not required any longer, you can just select and delete them from this screen. If you need to tell me what they are, Right click and select a "Copy to to ClipBoard" option.

But i have noticed is this from ChannelOrganiser,

// Errors in 'Freeview.dat' detected by Channel Organiser B2.1 on 15/11/2015 at 09:00
// These will cause problems with status display, config files, and/or future LCN changes

LCN 72 appears to have moved to LCN 58 - the entry for the former should be changed
LCN 78 appears to have moved to LCN 73 - the entry for the former should be changed
LCN 79 appears to have moved to LCN 78 - the entry for the former should be changed
Mux name is apparently wrong for LCN 722 - it should be PSB1
No 'Freeview.dat' entry found for 'BBC Cambridge' on LCN 722

// Based of version of 'Freeview.dat' last updated at

Seems odd because Freeview.dat was updated via TM, and then the whole ChannelOrganiser tap from TM too.

The messages indicate that the information received over the air doesn't correspond to the data in the Freeview.dat file i.e. the online Freeview.dat file needs to be updated.

EMJB hosts/manages this file; TM is just downloading it from his site.
While EMJB still frequents the site, he doesn't use EPG2MEI to collect data (he uses a Raspberry Pi to access Atlas data). Consequently, he isn't that bothered about keeping it up-to-date (he did it promptly last time I sent hin an updated version).

You can edit the Freeview.dat file yourself to make any changes that you think are necessary but looking at them, I would just ignore them for now. Should you edit the file, tell TM to ignore EMJB's version until it next changes (it will prompt you).

The PcControl| Channel Management mechanism uses a different algorithm for tracking shuffled channels and should, I believe, not care about this sort of change to channels defined in Freeview (EMJB thinks there could be issues in my mechanism but I think we just agreed to differ in the end).
If you want to try the PCControl mechanism, you will first have to install the tap (Tools| Install Files) and reboot the toppy.

Spoke too soon.

Was fine for yesterday until the evening. Using as normal, walk away, come back and the native installation menu is on the screen. Sad

Did a native channel scan. Tried MS recovery back up which last worked and tried the latest from when I was running ok in the morning. Both crash the Toppy.

So bypassed recovery, scaned with ChannelOrganiser and all back to normal. Time appear once EPG loaded.

No issues found with fsCheck!

This is exactly what I had a few times earlier in the year until the latest issue (this thread)

Don't really know!

Note: if PcControl is running on the toppy, you can do a TM PcControl| Channel management scan - saves having to do a native one followed by a ChannelOrganiser one.

Alternatively, if CO is in Auto Start, it will automatically fire up when it detectes the channels have been trashed.

One possibility is that MS is trying to process a search in response to EPG data and it has cause a crash. Try deleting all searches that you no longer have an interest in. Then use one of the MS Z options to write a new set of backup files (so that you have something to go back to). Might also be a good idea to do a TM | Snapshot| Take to refresh your existing snapshot (if you want to keep the snapshots separate, you will have to use Snapshot|Manage first and rename the existing snapshot.

That is what you want to see; it shows that the file system structures on the disk haven't been corrupted (of course it doesn't say anything about the contents of individual files! - but they are probably ok if the structures are ok).

As you have lots of toppies, you could swap the disk with another system and see if the issue moves with the disk. If it moves with the disk, this implies a software issue on the disk whereas if it stays on the toppy, it implies a hardware issue.

The 5810 uses different firmware from the 5800 but that shouldn't matter as it is stored in the toppy i.e. although the firmware image is built on the disk, it is not used/accessed when the toppy boots.

Don't forget to reverse the disk swap at some point (not essential but just puts your configs back as they were).

[/edit] Take Care swapping the disks - make sure toppies are unplugged for at least 2 minutes before playing with the innards[/edit]

Ok. Had a massive tidy up of searches, backed up and see how goes. Thanks

Just realised that you said that you had to do a scan after the last problem.

This is indicative of poor signal strength/quality.

Please do the following
1) TM Tools| Install Files| PcControl
2) reboot toppy
3) PcControl| Show Menus & PcControl| Measure Signals
4) Choose 10 seconds as the interval and measure on all muxes on both Tuners
5) When complete, right click in the display and select "Copy to Clipboard as Padded Text".
6) Paste the results.

If you don't want PcControl permanently in Auto Start, rename it into \ProgramFiles or delete it (you can also measure signals using the SignalMonitor tap but I can't remember how you get those back on a pc)

Geoff

Signal isn't an issue with anything else. TV you view box or another Toppy.

That doesn't mean you don't have a bad signal on this toppy
