Did you change the battery?

Is the disk cable fully seated?

I'm out of ideas

Geoff

I think your toppy entering the MyStuff Recovery is solely down to the battery.
This battery maintains the clock when the machine is in standby so, when it is flat, your toppy doesn't have the correct time when it boots. MyStuff then attempts to use the EPG file and, because the dates are too far forward from the toppy date, it enters recovery mode.

This may also be the cause of the toppy rebooting when you press the White button (I never use that feature).

I have not noticed any issues with the time on the display while in standby.

I have just now changed the battery and checked all connections. All back together and fired up but i still get the same issue when pressing the white button for timers. But this same reboot issue also happens when i go to archive/recording and then go >> across to the timers list (on the actual button press for the timers view)

First thing Topmanager suggested is a different version of freeview.dat, used by the PcControl and ChannelOrganiser taps is avavilbe on EMJB's website

Plus when i 'check mystuff' it suggests the PruneEPG tap as you have already suggested

Have 'Analyzed \ProgramFiles' and it gives this:

Analysing Data ...
<<< Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\MyStuff_Searches.dat
<<< Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\TAPCommander.ini
<<< Some folders were not recognised
<<< Some files were not recognised
Analysis Complete

Have now installed PruneEPG and fscheck

VERDICT: Thefile system appears GOOD

ISSUES
corrupted files entries = 4
unusual practices = 1

/Logs:

file not normally in ROOT
should ony have DataFiles, MP3 and ProgramFiles
to fix delete

/ProgramFiles/Settings/Freeview.dat
Invalid date and/or time
this may be an indication of corruption

/ProgramFiles/Settings/FvTxData.tsv
Invalid date and/or time

/ProgramFiles/Settings/ChannelOrganiser.tap
Invalid date and/or time

the rest looks OK!!!

By default the white button just lists Timers doesn't it? It is common to move this function to the LIST button.

Looks to me that the problem here is a corrupt MyStuff installation, but would be a good idea to boot tapless to see if native Toppy is stable to rule out hardware issue.

Suggest you first use the TM Snapshot| Take (if you haven't done so already) - this allows you to put the files back as they were !!!

Please post the full fsCheck log in the dedicated thread

The /Logs directory in the root indicates that you have had some corruption to the file system - may be recent or may have occurred some time ago
(perhaps use Antares to see if it contains any files - if so, their date may indicate when it happened).
To fix: delete this folder (delete any of it's contents first)

The time errors on files may be due to a bad clock when the files were created or may indicate that the directory entries were corrupted.
To fix: reinstall ChannelOrganiser (Tools| Install Files)

Was the fsCheck log run before or after updating Freeview.dat?

You can ignore the message about TapCommander.ini being missing.
The "
<<< Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\MyStuff_Searches.dat" indicates that you don't have a full set of MyStuff files.
I thought MyStuff automatically created these if necessary but that may have changed with the addition of the recovery mechanism.

Either
1) use the MS recovery mechanism to choose the most recent version of its files that don't exhibit the problem or

2) Use the Tools| Manage MS Backup Recovery option; this just shuffles the files around (you may have to stop MyStuff first - I can't remember if it automatically does this).

Finally, please post the MyInfo Log.

Geoff

Snapshot:
done

Fscheck:
report posted on the dedicated thread, a little different from earlier today as the Toppy has sat trying to run as normal

Log file:
There is nothing within the Log file that is in the ROOT with DataFiles, MP3 and ProgramFiles All have the same date 01/01/2003 00:00
Now deleted

Freeview.dat:
About to update this next so ran fscheck first

Then will look at
Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\MyStuff_Searches.dat

Updated freeview.dat from TM and rebooted

Then have run ChannelOrganiser, and rebooted but my timers have all gone?
Pressing white however doesn?t crash it anymore

Ran Analyze again and it says
<<< Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\MyStuff_Searches.dat
<<< Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\TAPCommander.ini
<<< Some files were not recognised
<<< Wrong folder: \ProgramFiles\~FireBirdLib.tmp~ - expected in folder \ProgramFiles\Logs

<<< Missing file: \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\MyStuff_Searches.dat":
Using the MS recovery option yesterday just crashed it every time. Even with the oldest files.

Do I try the TM Tools| Manage MS Backup Recovery option?

My info:
Will post next

Thanks for the fsCheck report - as you said it all looks fine (directories always have the same date)

The MyInfo Log looks ok (although I haven't checked the individual channel numbers)

If it works like the PcControl| Channel Management option, CO, having detected that MyStuff is running, will leave it to MS to restore the timers after a scan.

In your case, you don't have a searches file so nothing will be restored.

I suggest you
1) Stop MyStuff
2) Use the Tools| Manage MyStuff Backup files to recover a MyStuff_Searches.dat file
3) Restart MS

Strictly speaking, you should recover a matching set of MyStuff files i.e. all the files with the same date suffix but I suspect that you can just do the Searches file.

The other alternative is to use the MyStuff menu (option Z10) to achieve the same result.

Should you get into trouble, you can always recover by using the Snapshot| Manage/Recover option to identify/restore the files that were changed.

JUST NOTICED that you said the MS recovery mode didn't find any working search files i.e. doing it with TM is not likely to make any difference.
Try displaying one of the backup search files (TM | Connection| Browse screen and double click on the required file). These files are readable text so you might be able to determine what was in them so they can be recreated (if the start of the file looks "damaged" you could delete the affected lines and try restarting MS.

If that doesn't work, you will just have to recreate the searches from what you can remember - this should cause MS to create the missing file.

Pure Conjecture: Perhaps MS stored several "empty" search files because the clock was wrong (MS creates a new file each time it starts if one hasn't already been created that day). As MS as a limit on the number of backups it retains, it may have purged all the versions that contained useful data.
