I've noticed that quite a few channels now prefix programme titles with "New: " to show it's a new episode. This can cause problems, firstly when creating a search, as the default is to match the title exactly, so depending on which episode you've picked to create the search with, you either get only the "New: " episodes, or only not the "New: " episodes, unless you choose the 'contains' option and delete the "New: " if it's there, to just leave the programme name.

Secondly, when sorting by name in the archive, the episodes of the same show aren't all together. Some of the episodes are in one place (e.g. under 'A'), and some are under 'N'.

Would it be possible to have an option to ignore "New: " at the start of programme names please?

Thanks - couldn't find it in the manual, but couldn't believe I was the only one with the problem. Will check out ccs's link.

If you used the installer, I believe that creates the necessary file for you to ignore New: in any programme title.

What is the difference between a programme flagged as New and one not flagged as a repeat (R)? Confused

I think New: Lewis (for instance) is used to prove to you that it really IS a new series amidst a myriad of repeats.

Or to put it another way: None Smile

Once upon a time they apologized for showing repeats, now it is so unusual to have something new they flag it - except they abuse the system and they mean "new to this channel", nothing on Dave or Drama is really new is it?

Dave Gorman is as is Pinkertons, both enjoyable hokey shows. Smile

Bit late to this, but I'd noticed far too many "New: " leaders on program names too. (Glad to see it's already been addressed).

I have found the .dat file and can see that it has '* | New:' in it, but I still see New: in all the searches and in the programme titles after recording.

And when viewed in alphabetical order the 'New' stuff shows up between M stuff and the O stuff regardless of what is after the :

Am I misunderstanding what this option does? Is it just for the searches? I think it would be nice not to see the text in the archive (as an option?)

Cheers.

David

It only works on the searches, but it would be nice to have it ignore the "New:" in the archive as well

Others on here have probably already noticed this but I?ll mention it anyway. We had done a series search on the More4 Swedish drama Thicker Than Water.

However, last night with three episodes already broadcast, we looked in the New: Thicker Than Water folder to start watching the first episode only to realise it wasn?t there!! It?s so annoying when that happens.

Then I remembered that this had happened on a programme series a couple of weeks or so back. So I scrolled down the folders list to ?T? and there it was looking all lonely in its own Thicker Than Water folder.

More4 had broadcast the first episode without the word ?New?.

I used the yellow button to move it to the correct folder.

Then we viewed the first episode, found it to be really boring and deleted off the recorded episodes and series search.

So, if you have a missing episode in a folder, that could be the reason why!
