Hi all,

Looking for some advice here please.
Had a 5810 for 3 or 4 years now and in the past few weeks it's started giving interference in the images - screechy audio and blocks over some of the screen.

I know most of the issues on these are PSU related so I took it apart and measured the voltages (NOTE: It was not under any load, no aerial plugged in, no video playing). I got the following :-

17V = OK
3.3V = 2.8V
5V = OK
8V = 5.8V
17V = OK
30V = 28.4V

The 3.3V and 8V seem low / out of spec, so am considering the full 18 cap change...

Is this a good approach ? does it sound like it's a PSU issue ? any other advice ?

Thanks .. Ken

You can get a kit of quality replacement capacitors from member andyfras - see Toppy Repairs and if you are not into DIY repairs, see PSU Exchange.

It's only a 9 capacitor kit required for the 5810.

I suspect that the tall green capacitors are doming.

Suggest you post the output of MyInfo log so that people can advise of any problems.

It would also be a good idea to set up a forum signature based on MyInfo Log.

You can use TopManager to help you do both of these (assuming you have a windows pc and can connect it to the toppy - if you have never connected any computer to the toppy then it probably needs some patches and/or additional taps to get best results).

Geoff
